I have to start off by please asking everyone to take a deep breath and try and relax just a bit... I have been afraid to look at my email because so many of you are asking about when the Retay Blank guns are coming and if I was you I would probably be emailing me too!

This is what's happening. Remember the BB AK 47 incident, I know I'm trying to forget about it but it is now effecting how Air and Bank Guns are being handled in customs. The CBSA has been taking a fair bit of the heat with the whole "how did these so called (convertible) AK-47 BB guns get into Canada in the first place". And it looks like importers are now getting punished for the CBSA mistake by the CBSA holding onto flagged imported items for extended periods of time. Don't be fooled, this has turned into a money making opportunity for the CBSA as they have a $1000 per day warehouse storage fee on items being held for import. No this is not a typo, that's $30,000 per month so if you thought your 10x10 storage unit was costing you a boat load then think again!

Thank God I am not an importer or I would be shutting down and perhaps thinking about getting a government job as government employees don't seem to be accountable to anyone and now make even more money by doing even less to help legit Canadian business owners - sorry if I seem a bit miffed, but I was arrested a few weeks ago and hand cuffed in front of my family and then released without any charges or apologies, yet the police still held on to all my business related items for over a week that I need to run my business. And now the CBSA is making it very difficult to import legal products that are the foundation of my business.

And don't think this won't effect you! Because of these extraordinarily high CBSA storage fees, my importer/s will be forced to raise the cost of the items I purchase from them and in turn I will be forced into raising the price I sell these inflated items to my customers. And it has already started... I just raised the price of the Retay Blank Guns so for those of you that already "pre-ordered" you are now getting an even better deal. This of course is offset by the delay and I apologies for this but it is beyond my control.

I hope this all blows over but who knows for sure? My advice is to buy now while prices are still low and most items are still in stock;)

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Real Action Paintball RAP5 feels kind of like an on/off switch, even though it is not an electronic switch it kind of feels like one a bit and it seems to need some CO2 or Air pressure in order to operate. Once the pressure is there, you can engage the trigger. The trigger is fairly short and nice and light.

Accuracy: I was pretty impressed with the RAP5 BB machine guns overall accuracy. I did not have to play around to much with my Red Dot scope to get it on target and keeping it on target is easy to do in both semi and full auto modes. I was especially impressed with how well it stayed on target in full auto mode. I like the fact that it pumps out BB's very quickly and they go exactly where you want them too go.

Build Quality: I was very impressed with the overall build quality of the RAP5, it has lots of metal parts exactly where they would be metal on the real MP5 giving the RAP4-RAP5 BB machine gun a very solid feel. Even the magazines feel solid and are made with metal. I was bit concerned about how the RAP5 would feed and shoot the BB & casing combination but it really seemed to work well and the combined full auto and ejecting casings makes the RAP5 a total gas to shoot!

Realism: The RAP5 BB machine gun is extremely realistic, you can even mix and match real H&K MP5 accessory parts! The only way you can tell its not the real steel is the small ejection port where the .43 caliber casings fly out, and they really come out with some momentum! Other then that this BB machine gun is very realistic in how it operates, looks and feels.

Pros:

• Extremely realistic replica of a real H&K MP5.

• Lots of metal on this gun.

• Ejecting casings makes for a realistic experience.

• Semi and full auto selectable with a nice high rate of fire in full auto.

• Can customize with actual MP5 add on parts. (stocks, rails, grips)

• Good accuracy even in full auto mode.

• Can use either CO2 or bulk-air power sources.

• Decent 400fps for a full auto machine gun.

Cons:

• Not a cheap gun!

• Hunting down the ejected casings can be a bit of a chore but they are not expensive to buy.

• .43 caliber ejection port on the side is a bit of a giveaway.

• Would have liked more options of power-sources when purchasing. (Dual 12 gram CO2 adaptor should come standard)

Comments:

When I heard about this BB machine gun, I new I had to have it and mostly because of the way it feeds and ejects the shell casings, much like a real gun! I'm also a big fan of the H&K MP5 styled rifle and PDW version. I was genuinely impressed with everything about this BB shooter; design, quality, realism and shoot-ability and I hope to one day get the RAP4 (M4 styled) version of this gun which uses the same feeding mechanism. If you want the most realistic looking and operating full auto 4.5mm BB machine gun you can get then this is really it.

Crosman just made a press announcement for their latest M417 Pneumatic Air Rifle which looks a lot like an M4 assault rifle.

Although it looks like a semi auto, under the hood is a multi-pump pneumatic system that requires pumping between shots, you can pump just a few times or several to get right up to 625 fps with 7.9 grain pellets so I am assuming this one is not coming to the Canadian market in it's current configuration. By the way you can also shoot BB's by loading up to 350 into the BB reservoir located on the side of the receiver, while an 18 round track feeds the BB's for shooting.

Some other interesting points to mention are the adjustable rear stock and windage adjustable, dual aperture (2-position), flip rear sight, and elevation adjustable front sight that can also be removed entirely for alternative sighting like a red dot or scope.

The Crosman M417 - M4 styled pellet and BB rifle uses a polymer stock, receiver and forearm and sports tactical rails for mounting accessories in several locations. MSRP is right around $119.

Crosman just changed the name of this product to: M4-177

It has been a hell of a past week but I will continue my pursuit of my passion for airguns and blank guns. And to be honest, nobody has really tried to stop me. The events of the past week did dim my spirits a bit but I am feeling a bit more like myself these days partly do to the arrival of a new toy - The RAP4 - RAP5 4.5mm BB shooting semi and full auto PDW.

This RAP5 (made by Real Action Paintball) is a very well made MP5 replica that started life out as a .43 caliber paintball gun, I purchased mine already converted to the 4.5mm steel BB version. If you have the .43 caliber paintball version you can purchase a 4.5mm BB or a 6mm Airsoft barrel conversion kit separately from RAP4. The standard magazine works with either conversion kit but you will need to purchase the shell ejecting plastic adaptors that you place the BB's into and then into the magazine.

The RAP5 I ordered came with a refillable 60 gram CO2 tank that fits on the back and is perfectly concealed by the rear stock. You can also remove the stock and attach a larger HPA or CO2 bottle directly to the RAP5. I did just that today to try it out and the gun worked flawlessly in both semi and full auto mode using my HPA bottle.

I of course will be doing a full review of this very cool shell ejecting BB machine gun shortly and I will show you my custom made shell casing catcher!

I wasn't sure about the Retay CS9 at first and kind of preferred my Retay Baron HK and Eagle over the CS9 at first but this smaller Retay has really grown on me. It's almost the perfect size yet it retains a very compact frame while still having a mid sized guns weight and magazine capacity. And as mentioned, it kind of fills the void that the Zoraki 914 left behind when it was reclassified as a prohibited firearm in Canada. I will most likely be picking myself up a Satin version of this one to go with my black Retay CS9, hey you can't lose at this very good price.

Realism: The Retay Baron HK Sig Sauer P228 copy is a really good Sig Sauer P228 replica. The grips could even almost be swapped with a real Sig Sauer P228 grip if the screw holes where just a bit closer to the center of the hand grip. The basic gun shape and main features are almost dead on to the real Sig Sauer P228 including the de-cocker, slide catch and take down leaver. Internally the gun does differ as the Baron HK has a single action only trigger and a fixed barrel.

This gun for me was another must have blank shooter as I already own a real steal 9mm version of this gun (My Norinco NP-34), I just really like the look of Sig Sauer semi auto pistols! I will be getting another Retay Barron HK but this time in the satin finish. Because I have the real gun version, I was able to see how really close this gun is to an actual Sig in looks weight and handling. As a training gun, this is ideal as there is much less risk when using blank guns for practicing things like holster draws or even basic gun control drills.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my EKOL blank guns which makes sense since they are both Turkish made guns. The Retay Eagle is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal and has good heft to it weighing in at 3.1 pounds. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect. The satin finish on this gun has a raw metal look but with a slight gold tint and a semi polished look, keep in mind we will be selling it in Matte Black, non-shiny Chrome and Nickel. The Retay Eagle performed very well for me and had no problems with loading, firing and ejecting rounds when I tested it.

Realism: The Retay Eagle Desert Eagle copy is a pretty decent Desert Eagle replica with a few small exceptions. Overall I would say it is slightly smaller than a real Desert Eagle and has a bit smaller handle which may be good for people with smaller hands and it also has 2 screws near the front of the slide on each side that would not be there on a real Desert Eagle.

This gun was a must have blank gun for me, owning a real Desert Eagle is pretty much out of the question because they are not cheap to buy and operate. For a very small fraction of the price of a real Desert Eagle I get to own the next best thing and as a matter of fact, I may just buy one in each color since the price is very affordable! As with many of the blank guns, the Retay Eagle would make an excellent prop gun for TV or Movie scenes. And you can always impress you friends by pulling out the Retay Eagle and proclaiming "That's not a gun - This is a gun!"

I will be doing full reviews of these three Retay guns; the CS9 (Smith & Wesson CS9 Copy), Baron HK (Sig Sauer P228 Copy), and the Eagle (Desert Eagle Copy). My full review videos will focus on each Retay blank gun individually and go into detail with shooting tests and Fields Strips when possible.

My basic first impressions of this new blank gun offering from Retay is that they are a welcome addition to our current blank gun offerings here in Canada and what I like most is that all three guns are very different in look and design then the EKOL guns we have had for some time now. As far as quality goes, I would say they are on par with the EKOL guns and being that they are made in Turkey this shouldn't be too unexpected.

This is the latest edition to the Drozd BB Machine gun line - the Baikal Drozd Blackbird! This gun means business and is based on the standard Drozd but with a few extras to make this updated version even better. First off you get a motorized 400 round BB hopper (more like a 900 round hopper) and your choice of using either standard 12 gram or 88 gram CO2 cartridges. The Blackbird also has an updated stock and a higer and longer scope mount. This Russian made Full Auto BB Gun is capable of firing (in stock form) up to 600 rounds per minute and 6 round bursts. Keep in mind that modification chips for this BB shooter are easy to get and make it a 1200 round per minute true full auto shredder.

The Drozd Blackbird CO2 4.5mm BB air gun uses a very durable polymer and metal design and takes advantage of an electrically activated trigger for precise aim and consistency.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the IWI Jericho 941 was about medium to hard but defiantly not the worst air gun I have tested. After you quickly shoot off a full CO2 cartridge you may need a bit of a break to rest your trigger finger but the actual shooting experience is just fine.

Accuracy: Accuracy was pretty good for a double action shooter, I got around a 1.5 inch grouping from a 20 foot away free standing position, shooting just a hair to the left but a bit on the high side. It is a bit unfortunately that the Jericho 941 does not have sight elevation adjustments as it would make a very accurate airgun otherwise. I also put the Cybergun IWI Jericho 941 through my Chrony Chronograph and got very impressive FPS results, actually starting off and staying well above the claimed manufacturers FPS. My 8 shot average on a new CO2 was a very high 488 FPS, again well above Cybergun's claimed 443 FPS.

Build Quality: Very good, the Jericho 941 weights in at about 2 pounds which is a very hefty weight for a medium sized pistol. The build quality and fit and finish is good all around with decent usage of metal in the slide, magazine, outer barrel and trigger.

Realism: The Cybergun IWI Jericho 941 is very close to the look, weight, and feel of the real Israel Weapons Industries Jericho 941! Even though it doesn't have a working slide it definitely looks the part with the Licensed trade marks, cut out ejection port, full size drop out metal magazine and recessed metal barrel.

Cons:

• Non-blowback and the slide is non-functioning.

• The hammer is only for show and does not cock back for single action shots.

• Non adjustable rear sights, a bit of a pity with this rather accurate pistol.

• Trigger action is bit on the heavy side and gets a bit tiring after lots of shooting.

Comments:

I ordered my Cybergun IWI Jericho 941 with two other Cybergun pistols (The Sigarms GSR and Sig Sauer SP2022), all of them in the lower and more affordable price point, the Jericho 941 is definitely the hardest shooting out of the bunch. For a relatively inexpensive BB gun you get good value for your money, most importantly a very accurate reproduction of the real IWI Jericho 941 firearm! If you want to purchase an air pistol replica that's very hard hitting, accurate, get's lots of shots per CO2, has excellent weight and realism then the Jericho 941 may be the airgun for you?

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the MP-655K is in the medium range with the single action being a bit lighter due to less cocking effort required. There is some force required to rotate the rotary magazines when shooting both pellets and BB's. It's important to make sure you use pellets that fit the rotary magazine correctly or they may move around and cause the magazine to bind up requiring additional trigger force.

Accuracy: I found the Baikal MP-655K to be a good shooter, this airgun took me some time to get used to however, so make sure to give it some time and also make sure to try an assortment of pellets as they do effect the trigger pull and the trigger pull ultimately effects accuracy. I did get about a 2 inch 8 shot grouping from an unrested 20 foot out position but I know this gun is capable of much better results. BB's also did fairly well in my test results. My Chronograph testing also confirmed that you can expect to get feet per second rating in-between 300 and 360 fps when using both pellets and BB's.

Build Quality: Excellent, like just about all the Baikal products, these guns are built to very high standards. the designs are sometimes unusual but you can count on the quality to be top notch and in most cases there is little to no difference between the materials used in Baikal's real guns and their air guns.

Realism: The Baikal IZH MP-655K is closely based on the real steel Baikal Viking 9mm semi auto pistol, or (Yarygin pistol) the latest Russian standard military-issue side arm. As far is looking and feeling like a real gun, it sure plays the part. Both the air gun version and 9mm version have steel slides and polymer frames.

• You wWill have to read manual and get used to this guns operation.

• A bit hard to load the pellet magazine at first.

• Trigger is kind of funny and a bit hard on fingers.

The Baikal MP-655K Pellet and BB Air pistol is another excellent product from Baikal, it is an extremely unique air gun in that it shoots both pellets with an 8 shot rotary magazine but can also shoot up to 100 BB's with its integrated 100 round BB hopper and special adapted magnetized rotary BB magazine! The quality of this gun is outstanding and there are tons of great features like the rifled barrel, fully adjustable sights, single and double action trigger, moving slide with slide catch, weapons grade materials and of course the ability to shoot both pellets and BB's. You are going to need to take some extra time to fully understand how to best use this air gun but the extra effort is well worth it in the end!
