ISSC MK22 FN SCAR 22LR Rimfire Rifle Review

Type: .22 caliber rifle.

Manufacturer:ISSC.

Model:MK22.

Materials: Metal & Polymer.

Weight: 6.5 pounds.

Barrel: 16 inches, metal rifled.

Propulsion: Gun Powder.

Action: Semi auto, single action.

Ammunition Type: .22LR caliber rimfire.

Ammunition Capacity: 22 round magazine.

FPS: 1,138 - 1255.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the ISSC MK22 is fairly short with a bit of noticeable break point in it but overall is pretty light. I get the feeling that this may be a striker based action because of the slight tension before the release.

Accuracy: I put about 300 rounds through the ISSC MK22 and took some time getting used to how it felt and also sighting in the sights on my 4 power scope. Once I felt comfortable I setup a new target and placed a full magazine (22 shots) all with in a 2 inch group from 20 yards out (60 feet). I was in a seated position using and elbow based rest. I was very happy with these results.

Build Quality: To me the ISSC MK22 SCAR clone feels like the real deal, it's not till you load it up and fire off a few rounds that you can even tell you are shooting the .22 caliber rimefire version. The MK22 has a lot of metal parts and the fit and finish is very good. You do have to use quality .22 caliber ammo in this guns for the best results because it can be a bit picky and also make sure to also take a bit of extra time when loading your magazines to ensure the ammo is set well to the back of the magazine. I'm not saying you can't use the cheap box ammo but you will have to be prepared to clear a few rounds from time to time.

Realism: It doesn't get any more real than this, the ISSC MK22 is basically an FN SCAR in a smaller cheaper .22LR caliber. But if you want to spend $3000 on the real thing and several hundred dollars per day at the range in ammo then get the full NATO round firing version. Unfortunately my pocket book does not allow for this and I don't think we can even get the larger caliber versions here in Canada. I also go to an indoor range that allows .22 caliber rifles to be used alongside the pistols which makes getting out and using the ISSC MK22 that much easier.

Purchased From: ???

Pros:

  • One fifth the price of the NATO round firing version to purchase and operate.

  • Mostly metal construction with good usage of polymer in the right places to keep it light.

  • Lots of rails to mount just about any type of accessory you can think of.

  • Nice high capacity 22 round magazine to keep the shoots going.

  • Versatile flip up multi position sights for pistol or rifle based target acquiring.

  • Fully adjustable stock with three length positions and check hight position, can also be folded in.

  • Most bad ass looking .22 caliber rimefire rifle around.

  • Made in Germany

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Not the Cheapest .22LR on the market in this category but well worth the added price tag.

  • Can be a bit picky about which bullet's you use in it and how you load the magazine.

  • The rear stock cheek rest is a bit high when using the pistol sights or a low rise scope, you may need a riser under your scope.

Comments:

As you know, I don't do a lot of actual "real gun" reviews, the ones that use gun powder and shoot lead bullets. I do have a very soft spot for the .22 caliber rifles for a few reasons. Firstly, they are usually more inexpensive to buy and also to shoot as the ammo is only a fraction of the cost of the larger caliber ammo. .22 rimefire guns can also be shot in more areas and at most gun ranges so you are more likely to get better use out of it in the long run. The ISSC MK22 FN SCAR clone is definitely the most impressive .22 caliber tactical styled rifle you can get, at least in Canada and even though it is at the top of the price rang in it's category it is well worth it because it is really a very high quality gun at a reasonable price.

Baikal Drozd Classic IZH MP-661K BB Machine Gun Review

Type: BB Machine gun.

Manufacturer:Baikal.

Model:IZH MP-661K.

Materials: Metal & Polymer.

Weight: 3.5 pounds.

Barrel: 8 inches, metal-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 or (Bulk air with adaptor).

Action: Electronic trigger with 1-3-6 round burst & 300-340-600 Rounds Per Minute.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm steel BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 30 rounds.

FPS: 360-500.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the IZH Drozd is nice and light due to the fact that the trigger is not mechanical but is instead an electronic on-off switch that operates a solenoid. The solenoid pulsates in turn hitting the CO2 valve release. This is how the single fire and burst fire rates are achieved.

Accuracy: When I was sighting the Baikal Drozd in I got several 5 shot groups well within 1 inch 30 feet out from the target. But when I did my actual video accuracy test, the Drozd did not perform as well, getting more like a 2 inch group, still very reasonable for a gun that can shoot 600 rounds per minute out of the box and 1200 rounds per minute when modified. With metal streaming out the barrel like that you are pretty much going to hit what ever you point it at, the odds are in your favor!

Build Quality: This is a typical Russian made gun, all business and less importance put on looks but even so it is visually appealing, at least to me! Everything works exactly as it should and even though the main shell is plastic it is really a weapons grade polymer so there is no cause for concern here. There are a fair amount of metal components like the factory barrel, most of the magazine and many internal parts.

Realism: Again, the Baikal Drozd IZH MP-661K is not a replica, but it does look like a sub machine gun in many ways, I'm really just not sure exactly what it looks like but when you are shooting this gun you really don't think much about this point because you are too busy grinning!

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Very well made BB machine gun.

  • Excellent power.

  • Good accuracy in all shooting modes.

  • Uses the 12 gram CO2 - a bit cheaper! (Can also convert to bulk air)

  • Stock version can shoot up to 600 rounds per minute.

  • Multiple stock lengths.

  • Rifled barrel.

  • Adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.

  • Removable magazine hold BB's and CO2.

  • Many mods for this gun.

  • Great for pest control, especially the ones that don't stay still.

  • Made in Russia.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • 12 Gram CO2 - you need to change it often!

  • Top Accessory rail is a bit short and low.

  • Rear stock can get lose sometimes (just add some tape to tighten it up a bit).

Comments:

The Baikal IZH MP-661K is one of the most fun BB machine guns out there and well worth the extra cost to get such a quality product that not only is great out of the box but can also be modified in so many ways to improve it's performance and looks dramatically. Sure the Baikal IZH MP-661K now has a big brother, the Drozd Blackbird, but the Blackbird may be just a bit of overkill for some, I kind of like the Drozd Classics more compact size and if you can't nail what your shooting at with 30 rounds then your doing something very wrong! The Drozd is really the epitome of extreme BB gun weaponry!

Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five P226 Open CO2 BB Pistol Review

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer: Cybergun.

Model:Sig Sauer X-Five P226 Open.

Materials: 99% all metal build.

Weight: 2.86 pounds.

Barrel: 4.4 inches, brass, non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x1.

Action: Semi auto blowback, double and single action.

Ammunition Type: Steel BBs 4.5mm.

Ammunition Capacity: 18 rounds

FPS: 330

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Sig Sauer X-Five is what you would expect from a real automatic pistol, in single action mode it is very light and short. The blowback action re-cocks the hammer with each shot.

Accuracy: Excellent for a BB shooter, I got about a 1 inch grouping from a 20 foot away free standing position with this red dot equipped BB shooter. I also put the Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 Open version through my Chrony Chronograph and even though the box has a 300 FPS rating on it I, I was able to get an 8 shot average of 343 FPS.

Build Quality: Excellent, with an almost all metal construction, this gun has some weight to it and the craftsmanship is also very good!

Realism: The Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five P226 is as close as you can come to the look, weight, feel, and action of the real Sig Sauer X-Five. P226! Everything about this gun makes it feel real, it would make an excellent training gun for someone just getting started in the sport or even for a skilled semi auto shooter wanting to hone their skills when a gun range is not easily accessible.

Available From: The Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • All metal construction - Extremely good weight and solid feeling gun. As real as you can get in an airgun.

  • Heavy blowback action adds to the realism.

  • Very Accurate Sig Sauer replica.

  • Really good accuracy for a BB gun (Red Dot helps),

  • Awesome training gun.

  • Both SA & DA with excellent pull, very smooth and light.

  • Field strips just like the real Sig Sauer X-Five P226.

  • Mine came in with much higher FPS then claimed.

  • Carries Sig Sauer licensed trademarks.

  • For only $10 more you get the sight rail, compensator and rear adjustable sight.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Sacrifice some fps and shots per CO2 because of the heavy blowback but worth it.

  • A bit hard to load up.

  • Can not field strip without taking off the sight rail?

Comments:

This Cybergun BB air pistol is styled after many modern blowback Airsoft pistols, this means it functions very similarly to the real steel. It is a very hefty gun made almost entirely from metal and has a very snappy blowback action which adds to its shooting realism. Even the magazine looks and feels like a real 9mm magazine with similar weight and dimensions. The Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five Open version shoots even more accurately than the non-sight rail version because of the addition of a Red Dot scope helping the accuracy! Both the regular version of teh Sig Sauer X-Five P226 and this "Open" version are absolutely great air pistols but for the extra $10 price tag you get some really nice additions to this pistol including an adjustable rear sight.

Umarex EBOS CO2 BB Machine Gun - Gone Tactical

My recently acquired (Thanks UmarexUSA) Umaerx EBOS CO2 BB Machine Gun was just screaming for some add-ons and to be honest the first thing that I noticed was the open sights really needed upgrading. Luckily the rear sight is removable allowing you to mount just about any type of Red Dot Scope or sighting system you want, just make sure it is high enough to see up and over the front BB hopper.

I decided to go with an EOTech Styled Red-Green Dot Tactical Scope and I have to tell you this guns looks awesome with it installed!

I finished off the look with an unobtrusive Tactical Rail Mount Flashlight. All in all I think I spent about as much if not more on accessories for this gun as it is worth to buy :)

Umarex Walther SG9000 CO2 BB Shotgun Review

Type: CO2 BB Shotgun.
Manufacturer: UmarexUSA.
Model: Walther SG9000.
Materials: Plastic (polymer) and some metal construction.
Weight: 2.35 pounds.
Barrel: 11.5 inches, metal non-rifled.
Propulsion: CO2 x 1 (88 gram).
Action: Semi auto, double action only.
Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's
Ammunition Capacity: 40 shot internal spring fed magazine.
FPS: 480 (single shot) - 250 (three shot burst).
Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Walther SG 9000 is in the mid range and is a bit long but once you get used to it you can fire off shots very quickly with little resistance. There really aren't any sticky spots in the trigger pull to speak of.

Accuracy: I shot this CO2 BB Shotgun at a target from the hip 20 feet away using my NcSTAR laser sight I installed on it in a free standing position, and it performed excellent getting a 1.5 inch grouping fairly centered on target. I also performed my accuracy test from 30 feet out in a semi-rested position using my 6x32 NcSTAR Scope and again I got a 1.5 inch grouping proving that a BB gun can show decent accuracy even from further out when setup properly. With my Chrony Chronograph testing I scored much higher then the factory claimed feet per second of 480fps in single shot mode and 250fps in three shot burst mode. I ended up getting an average 8 shot fps in single shot mode of 504fps and 309fps in three shot burst mode!
Build Quality: This is an almost all external polymer air gun with some metal components on the inside giving the Walther SG9000 a bit of a light to medium overall weight but once you add the large 88 gram CO2 cartridge and some accessories this gun can quickly gain a pound or two. All four accessory rails are metal along with the trigger. The fit and finish is very good on the SG9000 and the plastic quality seems very durable.

Realism: The Umarex Walther SG9000 is licensed by Walther but other then a similarity in the pistol grip it doesn't closely look like any specific Walther product or any specific Tactical shotgun for that matter. It does have a very tactical look and with a few accessories added you will have yourself a very persuasive looking shotgun on your hands.
Supplied by UmarexUSA - Can be purchased from: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Inexpensive versatile BB shotgun.
  • Nothing else really like it out there.
  • Multiple shooting modes - singe and three shot burst.
  • Uses 88 Gram CO2 so less stopping to change CO2.
  • Very good FPS readings - above factory claims.
  • Very accurate for a BB gun from close up and further out.
  • Lots of rail locations for all kinds of accessories and different customizable looks.
  • High capacity 40 round internal magazine.
  • Totally fun!

Cons:

  • The plastic exterior may put off some people looking for a heavier more metal gun.
  • 88 Gram CO2 can be a bit pricy, not as cost effective as 12 gram CO2.
  • Trigger pull is kind of long.
  • You will need to purchase some sort of a sighting system for it as all you have is a rail on top.

Comments:
The Umarex Walther SG9000 is a really fun and very inexpensive CO2 BB shotgun. With its multiple shooting modes you have the option of power and accuracy in single shot mode or to simply blow stuff away in three shot burst mode. The Walther SG9000 is also very customizable allowing you to really make this Tactical BB shotgun your own by decking it out with just about any combination of add ons and accessories you like! I found this gun the most fun to shoot in three shot burst mode using my laser sight and literally knocking down everything I pointed at!

Umarex Walther SG9000 and S&W M&P 45 CO2 Airgun Preview

Before I get into my full reviews of the Umarex Walther SG 9000 BB Shotgun and Umarex S&W M&P 45 Air Pistol, I thought I would do a quick Preview so you could get a quick look at both of these fine Umarex products.

A few highlights worth mentioning about each air gun:

  • The Walther SG9000 shoots in both single shot and a 3 shot burst that fires all 3 rounds at exactly the same time, in the same manner that an actual shotgun would simultaneously fire all the buck shot.
  • The Walther SG9000 is capable of 480 fps and uses an 88gram CO2 cartridge so you can refill the 40 rounds spring fed magazine a multitude of times before needing to replace your CO2.
  • The Walther SG9000 does not come with any actual sights so you will need to add either a Red Dot Scope or Laser on to one of the many provided Picatinny rails located on the shotgun.
  • The S&W M&P 45 can shoot in both double action and also single action by pulling the rear portion of the slide back to cock the internal hammer allowing for a very light single action trigger.
  • The Smith & Wesson M&P 45 has a very nice solid weight to it, I was actually surprised at how hefty it was considering it has a mainly all plastic outer shell, my best guess would be close to 2 pounds. I think it's time to invest in a scale!
  • The S&W M&P 45 also has a recessed barrel giving the muzzle the large caliber look of a real 45 auto adding to the realism of this replica gun.

Take a quick look at these two Umarex products in my YouTube video:

Webley Alecto HP-01 .22 cal. Air Pistol Shooting Test

The Webley Alecto (AKA: Zoraki HP-01) may not fit in exactly as a "Replica" Airgun, although it does resemble a bloated Dessert Eagle! But it is an Airgun worthy of spending some time reviewing an this is now my third Vimeo Video review for the Webley Alecto. My first Video Review was a Table Top Review where I covered most of the Webley's basic operation. My second Vimeo Video was a Chronograph Test to see what my Webley Alecto could do performance wise for FPS.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

I really wanted to do a video of this gun just shooting because that's what it does best, put lead down range very accurately! So I setup three cameras to capture it all from just about every angle I could think of and I set up 30 feet away from my target and shot 5 rounds in a rested position using a Red Dot Scope. The results where not surprising - pretty close to a 1/2 inch grouping!

If you're looking for a compact, hard hitting, accurate target or small pest control Air gun then look no further, the Webley Alecto has the goods!

Umarex Walther CP99 Compact Recon BB Pistol Review

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer: Umarex.

Model: CP99 Compact Recon Version.

Materials: Metal slide, polymer frame.

Weight: 1.8 pounds.

Barrel: 5 inches, non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, blowback, single action only.

Ammunition Type: Steel BBs 4.5mm.

Ammunition Capacity: 18 rounds.

FPS: Up to 400.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex CP99 Compact Recon is amazing, it is short and light making it one of the best action shooters I own. You can fire this gun accurately and fast all day long.

Accuracy: Great! The addition of the Green Dot Scope and slightly longer barrel on the CP99 Compact Recon version work amazingly well, this is one of the most consistent BB shooter I own getting under 2 inch groups at will from 20 feet out.

Build Quality: Excellent, this BB gun is made in Japan and uses metal where it is really needed like in the slide, slide release, safety, trigger, magazine release, magazine and most of the mechanical parts. It's well made, well finished and feels great in the hand.

Realism: This Replica BB gun has many of the same characteristics of the actual 9mm P99 Compact with the exception of having a longer handle and much different safety mechanism. Umarex has even changed the design a bit with the newer CP99 Compacts and made the ejection port cut out adding to the realism of this BB shooter.

Available at: the Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Decent reproduction of the original Walther P99 Compact 9mm.

  • Would make an excellent training gun as it has a similar size, weight, and feel to the actual Walther P99 Compact 9mm handgun.

  • Blowback action is very firm adding to the realism of shooting this weapon.

  • Really good FPS, accuracy and CO2 efficiency for a blowback BB air gun.

  • The Recon version has a longer barrel adding a few more FPS to this already great air pistol.

  • Amazing light and fast trigger pull making it a blast to shoot.

  • Addition of the Sight Rail, Compensator and Green Dot scope really add to the esthetics and performance of this BB pistol.

Cons:

  • The Sight Rail, Compensator and most of the Green Dot scope are plastic but this does not seem to effect the performance in any way.

  • Safety lever seems out of place and takes away from the realism of this replica.

  • Switch on the Green Dot Scope is silver making it stand out from the rest of the all black air gun.

Comments:

I already loved the CP99 Compact non-Recon version so I had very high expectations for this BB gun to be at least as good if not better and I was not disappointed! I was actual surprised at the improvements that the longer barrel and Green Dot Scope made not only in a much higher Feet Per Second rating (about 75 fps), but also the much improved accuracy in what was already a decent shooter. For the additional $40, you get the Sight Rail which allows you to add multiple accessories if required. You get the Green Dot Scope that noticeably improved the accuracy, and you also get the compensator which hides the extra long barrel for more FPS.

Daisy Red Ryder vs Crosman Marlin Cowboy BB Rifle Comparison Review

OK to start things off, this is a review of the Daisy Red Ryder Lever action BB Rifle but the Vimeo Video also compares the Red Ryder to the very similar Crosman Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Riffle, If you have not checked my Marlin Cowboy review out, you can see it here.

So for the most part I am going to focus on the Red Ryder in this text version but I will refer to the Marlin Cowboy when comparing the two BB air rifles.

Type: BB spring air rifle.

Manufacturer: Daisy.

Model:Red Ryder.

Materials: Mostly metal and wood.

Weight: 2.2 pounds.

Barrel: Smooth bore.

Propulsion: Spring.

Action: Lever action.

Ammunition Type: Steel BBs 4.5mm.

Ammunition Capacity: 650 rounds.

FPS: Up-to 350.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull is pretty good, not super light but predictable. (the trigger area is much larger then the Crosman Marlin Cowboy which may be more suitable for adults with thick fingers)

Accuracy: When I originally tested my Marline Cowboy I thought it performed well but the Daisy Red Ryder definitely has the advantage in the accuracy department, at least in my testing. I got about a 1.5 inch 8 shot group from a free standing position 20 feet away from the target.

Build Quality: This is a pretty much all metal and wood gun with a build quality almost exactly like the Crosman Marlin Cowboy. Daisy has even made some improvements like upgrading the lever to metal from plastic, most likely to compete with Crosman on this feature. The only plastic I found was the trigger, safety and front sight assembly.

Realism: Even though this BB gun is styled after the classic lever action Cowboy Rifle, it's not a close replica to any that I know of. You have to keep in mind the purpose of this gun - meant primarily for younger first time shooters. There are some nice touches like the leather tassels and the Red Ryder name burned into the stock .

Purchased From: Walmart.

Pros:

  • Inexpensive introduction to the sport of Airgun shooting.

  • Made out of Mostly Metal and Wood - Now including the Lever.

  • Large capacity internal barrel magazine (650 rounds).

  • Adjustable rear sight for height.

  • Decent 300+ fps velocity.

  • Excellent accuracy and consistency.

  • The original maker of this style of BB rifle - great track record!

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Plastic trigger, safety and front sight assembly.

  • Some people may find the non removable metal loop for the leather tassel a bit intrusive.

Comments:

I think this is a wonderful little BB rifle and even though it's intended for the young entry level shooter it can make a great back yard plinker that anyone can join in and enjoy - adults included! I plan to be shooting either the Red Ryder or my Marline Cowboy side by side with my little guy when he is old enough to shoot one of these fine lever action BB rifles. When it comes to picking between the Daisy Red Ryder or the Crosman Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifles it comes down to a few points: Both have almost the exact same build quality so it may come down to which look you like best? The Daisy was more accurate while the Crosman had a bit more power. The Red Ryder had the lighter but longer lever action pull while the Marlin Cowboy had a heavier shorter lever pull.

If you can't decide just buy them both because they are dirt cheap to buy and tons of fun to shoot, so when your friends come over you can always pass them one so they won't feel left out!

Umarex Walther PPK/S CO2 BB Gun Chronograph - Shooting & Slow-mo

Another filed test video in the series. This one is of the Umarex Walther PPK/S CO2 4.5mm BB pistol, I show you both my regular unmodified all black PPK/S and shoot it through my Chrony Chronograph with an averaged reading of 282 FPS, not bad considering the manufacturers claim is 295.

I also shoot 8 rounds with my stock Umarex PPK/S at a target to see what kind of accuracy I get, and just for fun I shoot a 15 round magazine into the same target with my modified fully-auto sliver slided PPK/S.

To finish things up, I slowdown the action just a bit using my high speed Casio camera to capture the blowback action of both my stock and modified Umarex Walther PPK's.

Enjoy my YouTube Video of my Umarex Walther PPK/S CO2 BB pistols getting Chronographed, shooting at a target and slowed down a bit with my High Speed Camera.

Benjamin Sheridan Super Streak .22 Caliber Break Barrel Rifle

I purchased a bunch of "near new" air guns from a friend of mine last week who was't using them anymore and thought I could put them to better use. I was happy to oblige!

I already have the Crosman Quest 800 Break Barrel .22 caliber rifle for my pest control but you can always use one with more power! The break barrel Benjamin Sheridan Super Streak in .22 caliber is rated at up to 1000 fps and it is a real beast of an air gun to say the least. It came with a nice 4-16-40mm scope and I added an NCStar bi-pod to it to help distribute some of the weight.

I sighted it in at about 50 feet and was able to get about a nice 1 inch grouping with it from a rested position. I am looking forward to using this gun when my fruit trees start producing.

EKOL Firat and Jackal 9mm P.A.K. Blank Gun Comparison

When I got my EKOl Firat a while back with a bunch of other fine EKOL products, I decided to not do a full review on it as it is essentially the same gun as my EKOL Jackal. Well, the people have spoken and I have given into the pressure and made a short comparison video on the differences between the EKOL Jackal and the EKOL Firat.

The Blank EKOL guns in this video are represented in both the Magnum (EKOL Jackal) and Compact (EKOL Firat) sizes which will also help you get an idea of the size difference when ordering as both guns can be purchased in Magnum and Compact versions.

Here are the main differences:

  • The EKOL Jackal can shoot in both semi auto and full auto while the EKOL Firat is semi auto only.

  • The EKOL Jackal's rear safety is non-functioning for all intents and purposes as the semi-full auto selector switch is also used as a safety switch. The EKOL Firat uses the rear safety as its safety and it is fully functional.

  • The EKOL Firat can be shot in single action or double action mode while the EKOL Jackal is a single action only gun meaning you have to either cock the hammer or rack the slide to shoot the first round in this gun. (Once the first shot is fired the blowback of the slide will automatically re-cock the action for you)

  • The EKOL Firat is about $60 less expensive as it does not have the full auto feature.

Enjoy my Vimeo video of the EKOL Jackal and Firat comparison:

ASG Dan Wesson 6 inch Silver & 8 inch Black CO2 BB Revolver Review

Related Posts:

Type: BB air Revolvers.

Manufacturer: ASG.

Model:Dan Wesson 6 and 8 inch.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: 2.25 - 2.3 pounds.

Barrel: Metal non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Revolver, single and double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 6 rounds.

FPS: 426.

Trigger Pull: The ASG Dan Wesson Revolvers have predictable trigers with the single action being a bit more consistent, not just in feel but in fps also. Double action mode is very usable without a lot of extra pressure required. I found I just wanted to shoot this gun in single action mode because it felt more natural with a six shooter.

Accuracy: I shot the pair of Dan Wesson Revolvers  at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and they performed well getting a 1.5 to 2 inch grouping just to the left of the target. The sights are adjustable for elevation and windage so getting these guns centered on the bullseye would be very easy. My Chrony testing with a six shot averaged result was 395 fps for the six inch and 447 fps for the 8 inch Dan Wesson.

Build Quality: These fine revolvers are extremely well built, I am beginning to think just about any product from ASG would not disappoint me, after reviewing the Dan Wesson's and CZ 75 P-07 DUTY. The Dan Wesson BB revolvers are almost all metal with just a few components made out of plastic, like the handles and CO2 screw tab. The handles feel like a cross between plastic and rubber. The finish on the six inch silver Dan Wesson is amazing and looks just like polished stainless steel. The black eight inch version has an almost metallic speckled finish without the shininess.

Realism: The ASG Dan Wesson BB revolvers are as close as you can get to a real six shooter, ASG didn't leave any detail out and thought of a few I may have never even dreamt up! Loading and ejecting actual brass shells into the cylinder makes you feel like this gun is much more then an unassuming airgun!

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • It's a revolver with actual brass shells giving you the feeling of a real 6 shooter!

  • Almost all metal design.

  • lots of detail in this gun, very well made, fit and finish is excellent.

  • Good power and good accuracy.

  • Fully adjustable sights.

  • If I could have dreamt up this gun I don't think I could have done as good a job!

Cons:

  • Very hard to get this gun in North America.

  • Plastic CO2 screw tab.

  • Only shoots BB's, would have been cool to shoot pellets too.

Comments:

I'm not really a revolver person, or should I say I wasn't really a revolver person, well until I got my Dan Wessons! I felt this way because most of the air gun revolvers available look just like that - they look like air guns! The Dan Wesson BB revolvers showed me that an air gun revolver can be just as cool as any of my very realistic automatic air pistols in my collection. And if you where already a revolver fan then the Dan Wesson CO2 BB revolvers are definitely for you.

UMAREX COLT DEFENDER CO2 4.5MM BB PISTOL REVIEW

Related Posts:

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer:Umarex.

Model:Colt Defender.

Materials: Mostly metal construction with a few plastic parts.

Weight: 1.6 pounds.

Barrel: 4.3 inches, metal non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 18 round magazine.

FPS: 440.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on this gun is medium and a bit long, the break point is a bit hard to predict but once you get used to it being on the long side it shoots pretty good.

Accuracy: This was my second time shooting the Colt Defender at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and again it performed about the same as the first time, with a decent 2 inch grouping. I think with practice, I could get this easily down to a 1.5 inch group.

Build Quality: As the Colt Defender is almost all metal, you can't really complain to much about the durability aspects of this gun. Where I was let down a bit was the lack of functionality. In other words - parts that normally served a purpose like the hammer, slide release, sight adjustments and rear safety - all where just molded into the metal gun and where only for show.

Realism: The Umarex Colt Defender is a licensed replica of the real 45 auto Colt Defender pistol. It is a close looking copy with the exception of the trigger mechanism.

Purchased this gun at : The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Almost all metal construction!

  • Good accuracy and power combination.

  • Very solid and durable air gun.

  • Decent replica of the actual Colt Defender 45 auto.

Cons:

  • Most of the mechanical parts are molded into the gun.

  • I don't like the screw holes on the right hand side of the gun - a dead giveaway.

  • I would have liked a drop out magazine.

  • Ejection port metal material is only a plastic sticker.

Comments:

This is another low cost replica air gun from Umarex designed for the more entry level buyer. It's a very solid and well made gun being that it's mostly metal. There are many positive aspects about teh Colt Defender, it's fairly consistent and accurate, has all the Colt licensing and trademark, has a good 440fps, uses an all metal design, and comes in at a very affordable price.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 22 round magazine.

Accuracy: This was my second time shooting the H&K USP at a target from 20 feet out free standing and again it performed about the same with a decent 2 inch grouping.

Build Quality: You would think as this air pistol is mostly all plastic on the outside, that it would seem cheap and not so well made, but in fact the opposite is true! The plastic is of very good quality and form looking at it you would think the slide was actually made out of metal. Many of the internal parts and the full size drop free magazine are made out of metal giving the H&K USP a very solid and hefty feel.

Realism: The Umarex H&K USP is a licensed replica of the real H&K USP automatic pistol. It is an extremely close looking and accurate copy.

Purchased this gun from: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Good price for such a realistic looking replica - excellent prop gun!

  • Good accuracy and power combination.

  • Nice full size 22 round drop out metal magazine..

  • Even though it has a lot of plastic, they used high quality materials.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • No blowback.

  • Would have been nice to have at least a metal slide.

  • Slide catch is moulded into the frame and the slide does not function in any way.

Comments:

It's actually a very well made gun despite all the plastic parts and it even has all the H&K USP licensing and trademarks. There is a lot of good with the Umarex H&K USP, it's fairly consistent and accurate, has good fps, uses "good quality" plastic, and  comes in at a very affordable price.

Umarex Makarov CO2 4.5mm BB Pistol Review

Type: BB air pistol.
Manufacturer: Umarex.
Model: Makarov.
Materials: Mostly metal with a few plastic parts.
Weight: 1.5 pounds.
Barrel: 2.8 inches, metal non-rifled.
Propulsion: CO2 x 1.
Action: Semi auto, double/single action.
Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.
Ammunition Capacity: 18 round magazine.
FPS: 380.
Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on this gun is light to medium, in single action mode when the hammer is pre-cocked, the trigger is nice and light and easy to predict. When shooting double action the trigger first cocks the hammer and then near the end there is a break point where the hammer releases.
Accuracy: This was my second time shooting this gun at a target from 20 feet out free standing and again the Makarov performed well. The ability to shoot in single action, definitely helps with the accuracy.
Build Quality: Being an all metal gun (mostly all metal), makes the gun feel solid and sturdy. The only plastic parts I could find on the Umarex Makarov where the grips and the safety lever. The painted finish is nice but maybe a bit on the glossy side.
Realism: The Umarex Makarov is a licensed replica of the Makarov PM 9x18 Russian military and police pistol. It is a very close copy in both looks and feel.
Purchased this gun from: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Great price for an all metal licensed Makarov replica.
  • Good accuracy and power combination.
  • Sports both single and double action.
  • All metal 18 round drop free magazine.

Cons:

  • No blowback.
  • The slide catch/release does not work, as it's moulded into the frame.
  • Paint may be a bit glossy for some people.

Comments:

There is a lot to like about the Umarex Makarov, it's accurate, has decent fps, uses good materials, has a working slide and all at a very affordable price.
