Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is single and double action. When the hammer is back and it is in singe action, the trigger is short and light with about a quarter inch take-up before the release which is crisp and fairly light. You can decock the hammer and shoot in double action which does make the trigger pull much longer and a bit heavier but it is still very usable. There is also a semi cock-option where the hammer is partially cocked. This keeps the hammer off the firing pin and allows for a safer double action trigger pull.
Accuracy: So far I have not shot the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol or made my Field Test Shooting Video. I have shot lots of KJWorks Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols in the past and they have in general performed as expected. So I am confident when I get to the Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, it should perform well for me!
Build Quality: The KJWorks line of Airsoft Guns are known for their excellent build quality, the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is another example of a well made Airsoft Pistol with lots of metal parts including the slide, frame, inner and outer barrel, magazine, trigger, safety, slide catch release, take down lever and magazine release. The only real plastic I can see is the grips, butt plate, and CO2 gas nozzle. Fit and finish is really good. There is just a little bit of slide wiggle, but all the mechanical parts work well.
Realism: Most Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols are built to be as close to a real steel pistol as possible with similar dimensions, weight and feel. The blowback action gives a Blowback Airsoft Pistol the required slide action to allow for chambering of an Airsoft BB along with the reseting of the hammer, so true single action shooting is possible. Other than shooting a real steel Beretta M9A1, the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is as close as you can get to it. Holding this pistol in your hand, it would be hard to tell it is not the real deal.

The Beretta M9 is a classic Semi Auto Pistol that has been used in military and police for decades and has proven itself over time. I would say it is right up there with the classic 1911 as being recognized as a dependable and solid semi auto pistol. I still kind of prefer the 1911 but I’d take a Beretta M9A1 any day of the week. You really can’t go too wrong with the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, it has it all… Almost all metal build, full blowback operation with both single and double action shooting options. You have a picatinny rail for adding accessories and easy to see white dot sights front and back. This is probably one of my favorite Beretta M9’s in terms of looks and features.
Todays video is all about “damage”! How much damage can each of these .50 caliber ball options deliver to an object and the object of interest in todays video are a couple of over rip pumpkins that needed putting out of their misery. Luckily when I made this video the weather outside was cooperating with me and I go tI nice break in the rain. In this third video I test out the velocity and energy shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph using the 8 gram All Steel Balls that I purchased on my own to test with this Less Lethal Pistol. I also shoot 5 rounds of the same All Steel Balls into a paper target setup 30 feet down range to get an idea on what to expect accuracy wise with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. I have already uploaded Field Test Shooting Videos one and two where I test out 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls and 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls. Umarex claims a max velocity of 485 fps with an energy rating of 13 Joules with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol when using their supplied ammo. I am assuming this would be using the Powder Balls as they are the lightest option of Ammo that are included in the box with this pistol and will have the highest velcoity. In my Chronograph testing I shot 5 rounds using the 8 gram All Steel balls. The velocity for the 8 gram All Steel Balls was much slower than the 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls and 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls as expected, but they did stay fairly consistent ranging from a low of 132 fps to a high of 151 fps, averaging 138 fps. The overall energy rating ended up being the slowest by far out of all the rounds I tested in this Less Lethal Pistol, with an energy rating of only 7 Joules. Based on energy alone I would suggest using the All Rubber Balls as they achieved the highest energy rating at 15 Joules, even higher than claimed by Umarex.
Now that we understand that the 8 gram All Steel .50 Caliber All Steel Balls are not only the lowest velocity by a long shot, they also have the lowest energy rating again by a lot as compared to the other rounds tested. Maybe when I compare the accuracy during my target Test the .50 Caliber All Reel Rounds may redeem themselves. After Shooting 5 of the 8 Gram All Steel Rounds into my Paper Target from a distance of 30 feet, I did actually get the tightest grouping, even with a heavily fading CO2 that was near it’s end, so velocity did taper off making the shots shoot lower and lower with each shot. I did throw the final 5th shot out as I could literally see it loft to the target but even with the low CO2 and inconsistent velocity, I got my best grouping from the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol with a 3 inch grouping just slightly to the left of the bullseye but very close.
I was not surprised with the performance of the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol using the 8 gram All Steel Balls for this third Field Test. Velocity was much lower as expected than the other lighter rounds tested, but most surprising, the energy was around half of the All Rubber Balls. Perhaps the metal rounds just did not reach their maximum speed in such a short barrel due to them being a so much heavier weight? My conclusion on Ammo choice for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol would be to go with either the All Rubber Balls or the Rubber Steel Balls. The All Rubber Balls by far had the highest velocity and energy rating but I did feel like the Rubber Steel Balls even though they where moving slower and had slightly less energy, seemed to hit the target with the most force based on the sound I was hearing while performing the testing. Either round will for sure make an intruder think twice about continuing their course of bad behavior. I will probably do some testing on how each of these rounds effects different targets in the future, I just need to figure out what I want to shoot at…

The overall energy rating ended up being 12 Joules, so obviously lower in fps than claimed by Umarex but close to the claimed 13 Joules. Still a good result close to the claimed raw energy.
The main point to this ammo comparison video is to finds out not only if the heavier 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls will have around the same energy as the lighter 1.6 gram all Rubber Balls, but also to see if they have similar accuracy. In terms of accuracy the 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls did just a little bit better than the 1.6 gram all Rubber Balls, not by a lot but, by about 1 inch with a 5 round grouping of 5 inches. All 5 shots were well entered shooting just a bit high of my aim point by about 3 inches but in general well centered left to right as a grouping.
I was happy with the performance of the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol using the 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls for this second Field Test. Energy was very close to the claimed 13 Joules and the average 304 fps I got with this ammo felt snappy and got to the target quickly and sounded like they really hit hard. I do like the higher 15 Joules and 450 fps I got from the lighter 1.6 gram all Rubber Balls, so at this point I would probably recommend sticking with them for the most power and energy down range. Next up I test out the 8 gram all Steel Balls to find out if they are even an option or if they are simply juts to heavy for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol.

Umarex claims a max velocity of 485 fps with an energy rating of 13 Joules with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. In my Chronograph testing I shot 5 rounds using the 1.6 gram included all rubber balls. I did throwout the first shot as it was about 50 fps lower than the rest, perhaps as it was first out of the barrel which can happen. The other 4 rounds averaged 445 fps with an overall energy rating of 15 Joules, so a bit slow in fps than claimed by Umarex but a higher energy output. Perhaps the fps rating was for lighter rounds like the included 10 powder balls? Still an excellent result with more raw energy than expected which is great for a system designed to deter an intruder!
What good is power if you can not hit the target? That’s why I always test out accuracy as you want your gun to shoot where you point it. With Rubber Balls they tend to “wing” or “curl” a bit in the air which does spread out the groupings a bit over a BB or even Airsoft gun, so I was not expecting under a 2 inch grouping. My goal was to hit the target fairly centered with around a 6 inch grouping and the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol did exactly that for me, so mission accomplished. I also wanted to find out how many shots to expect from a fresh 12 gram CO2 and my results showed around 20 shots, so you can reload the internal magazine around 4 times before the trigger stops working, which is how you know the CO2 pressure is not adequate enough to shoot any more rounds.
I was very happy with the performance of the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol using the included 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls for this Field Test. Energy was even 2 Joules higher than claimed by Umarex, and I did not have a single malfunction with this pistol through my testing of all types of ammo I used in videos 1, 2 and 3. I would say the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is your best option as a Less Lethal Pistol here in Canada. Will it stop a very determined intruder? Maybe not, but I would feel a little bit safer with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol at my side than not having it at all. And a couple well aimed rounds to some soft tissue will for sure make someone reconsider some of their life choices. Stay posted for videos two and three coming out shortly…
This was a really fun Unboxing Video for me as I received something I feel a lot of Canadians might be really interested in protecting yourself in Canada is not a right especially if you use lethal force. So having a less lethal option is a really good idea.
Let’s get into what I found in this most recent Mystery Box in order of appearance…
The first item I unboxed was the KWC SP2022 CO2 NBB 4.5mm Steel BB Pistol. A pretty basic 4.5mm CO2 BB Pistol mostly made out of plastic but with a full size 21 round drop out metal magazine that does help a lot to add some much needed weight to this Airgun. It uses standard 12 gram CO2 with a claimed velocity of 450 fps.
Probably the most exciting item I pulled out of this months Mystery Box was the Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 Rubber Ball purpose built Less-lethal solution for personal and family protection. Most of the similar Rubber ball Less-lethal Airguns I have tested generally do not pack enough punch to really be much of a deterrent in my opinion but the Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 has a claimed 495 fps and when I tested it out after making this video it defiantly has some power. I would not want to be at the receiving end of this product especially in close proximity. The Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 uses a traditional 12 gram CO2 and holds 6 rounds of rubber ball or powder ball, it does come with 10 of each to get you started.
Next I took a look at three KJWORKS Airsoft Pistols all of which came with CO2 Magazines, extension barrels and thread on tips. The KJWORKS KP-19, the KJWORKS M9A1 TBC, and the KJWORKS KP-13 TBC. As expected with KJWORKS Airsoft Guns, they looked really good and will be a joy to review and test out.
Last out of the Mystery Box was a new product from Umarex, a full sized Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle in the style of the classic Red Ryder BB Gun but as mentioned in a larger size more suitable for an adult. Hey why do the kids get to have all the fun? The Umarex Marlin BB Rifle holds 650 rounds in its BB hopper and has a claimed fps pf 300. It also has an adjustable for elevation peep sight in the back with a metal lever and a Classic Faux Wood Finish.
Another SHOT Show 2017 interview video, this interview is with Bob Li from ASG (Action Sport Games), Bob shares with me some updates to the super popular Dan Wesson 715 along with the reintroduced EVO Scorpion Inferno powered Airsoft Rifle. Bob finishes up with a new X9 Classic which is a Beretta M9 in 4.5mm Steel BB.
You may have thought the Dan Wesson 715 was already pretty much perfect as is so what could ASG to make it even better? How about different barrel lengths. ASG has introduce the Dan Wesson 715 in both a new 2.5 inch and 4 inch version. Both lengths will be hitting stores shortly and will come in .177 caliber pellet and 4.5mm steel BB options. 6mm Airsoft will be out later on. The 4 inch version also includes an integrated accessory rail machined into the outer barrel for those of you wanted to add items like lasers and tactical lights to your Dan Wesson 715.
Last year at SHOT Show ASG introduced the EVO CZ Scorpion 3 A1 Inferno powered Airsoft Rifle but is again reintroducing it this year since they decided to take their time and get it perfect before releasing it in stores this March. The EVO CZ Scorpion 3 A1 is Inferno powered using an HPA system with a custom chip set that allows for a three round burst option an empty magazine detection.

KJWorks is known for their Airsoft guns and I have reviewed several of them to date. I was personally confused about some of the similarities and differences between several models of KJWorks Beretta M9 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistols, so I decided to make a video where I go over 4 models of KJWorks M9 Pistols and point out the commonalities and differences between them.
Here are the 4 versions of KJWorks Beretta M9 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistols:
All of them come with interchangeable 25 round CO2 Magazines.
All of them shoot around 360+ fps.
All have a metal slide and frame.
All weigh close to the same weight (2.1 - 2.4 pounds).
All shoot in single and double action.
All have ambidextrous safeties.
All have white dot sights.
Prices range from $184 -$200.
Here is a list of the differences between them:
The VE, Vertex and M9A1 come in a semi gloss finish while the Tactical is more of a matt black.
The VE and M9A1 have rails for accessory attachments while the Vertex and Tactical do not.
The Vertec, Tactical and M9A1 have laniard loops while the VE does not.
Some slight trigger guard differences between the models but very subtle.
The Vertex and M9A1 share the same style classic Beretta pistol grip, The Tactical has a tactical finger pistol grip and the VE has it’s own unique pistol grip.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks Beretta M9 & M9A1 is very good in both single and double action. Double action is a bit longer and heavier than when shooting in single action but not heavy by any means. Single action shooting is short, light and crisp as you would expect when shooting a real steel Beretta 92 style pistol.
Accuracy: I have not done my actual Field Test Shooting video review for the KJWorks M9 and M9A1 Airsoft pistols but I did get the chance to make a short preview video where I shot both guns at some clay pigeons setup around 20 feet away. I was able to pop the center out of the clay pigeons no problem and found that even without any practice I was consistently hitting dead center on most shots. I am not sure exactly what the FPS will be but considering both theses versions of the KJWorks M9 & M9A1 have the CO2 mags they should shoot up into the 360+ fps range using .20 gram Airsoft BB's. Blowback operation is strong and the slides cycle full length. Keep posted for my upcoming Field Test Shooting Video for both pistols.
Build Quality: As expected, the KJWorks M9 & M9A1 build quality is just like all the other KJWorks Airsoft guns I've tested so far, excellent the fit and finish is the best in my opinion even when compared to my my 4.5mm steel BB shooters. When using these guns regularly, areas that are painted like the metal friction areas show very light wear which is rarely the case with metal built blowback Airguns. Again the tolerances between the moving parts like the slide and frame are very tight showing excellent workmanship and machining from KJWorks.
Realism: Both the KJWorks M9 & M9A1 are copies of the real steel popular Beretta M9 & M9A1, it is really hard to tell them apart from the real versions. Both the M9 and M9A1 are very similar in design with the M9A1 having some slight cosmetic differences, the biggest being the addition of a tactical rail built into the frame. Both KJWorks Beretta's can be field stripped in the same manor as a real Beretta M9 Semi Auto pistol and all parts function the same.
Pretty much all metal pistols with good weight to them.

They are built to very high standards, are near perfect replicas of the real steel Beretta M9 & M9A1 and performance is also excellent. Yes the price is slightly higher than a similar Airsoft gun from KWC but the quality on the KJWorks is definitely worth the extra cost. We recently received some new pistols from KJWorks, The CO2 versions in Full Metal of the Colt 1911, the Berretta M9 and the Berretta M9A1. All of these guns are really well made, the fit and finish is excellent. Definitely a very high quality Airsoft pistol and worth spending a little bit more to get this extra quality. So I made a quick demo preview video where I get away from my table top and go outside to show them off a bit and shoot a few rounds through them at some clay pigeons. I did have some camera issues but you will get a good idea on how these guns look and perform.
I've already done a KJWORKS review on the KP-02, KP-07 and Elite 1A and they turned out to be very high quality Airsoft pistols so the extra price does get you a higher quality gun. So in this preview we are simply looking at some more models that from the looks of things I expect to be more of the same in terms of high quality and excellent functionality.
The KJWorks models we are looking at today are the KP-05 (1911 HI-CAPA), the KP-09 (CZ 75) and the M9 (Beretta M9). Even though none of them are licensed, they are very detailed and realistic copies of the original real steel versions with full blowback operation, heavy metal drop out magazines and lots of metal throughout. You would be hard pressed to tell them apart from the real powder versions.
All version in this preview load CO2 in the magazine along with 6mm Plastic Airsoft BB's, none of them have any orange markings or translucent parts as they fall into the uncontrolled firearms category here in Canada.
I look forward to doing my full review of these three very nice KJWorks Airsoft pistols.
