KJWorks KP-19S CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol Field Test Review

In this Field Test Shooting Video I take a look at the KJ Works KP-19S. I’ve reviewed the KP-19 in the past, so this one should perform similarly, but it’s been a while and I wanted to get this one out for a proper range session.

I’ve already done a tabletop / close-up video for the KP-19S covering the specs, features, and up-close details, so if you want the full walk-around and all the technical info, make sure you check that out first.

For today’s session, I focused strictly on performance in the same basic field-test format: velocity testing, then a 10-shot accuracy group at 30 feet, and finally some overall shooting impressions.

Velocity Testing (Chronograph)

For the chronograph test, I ran 0.25g Airsoft BBs (not 0.20g), so expect the readings to come in a bit lower than what many people quote online.

My chronograph also decided to be difficult today, throwing “Error 2” messages and not registering shots consistently, so I had to keep working at it until it finally started giving me some readings.

Once it cooperated, I got five velocity readings:

  • 312 fps, 304 fps, 293 fps, 288 fps, 284 fps:

  • Average of 296 fps

A couple notes to keep things fair:

  • If I had started the test with zero shots fired beforehand (the way I normally try to do it to maximize “fresh CO2” performance), the first shots could be a bit higher.

  • Because this was with 0.25g BBs, if you ran 0.20g BBs, you’d likely see higher numbers, potentially into the low-to-mid 300s depending on conditions.

  • This model also includes an extended barrel option that can push velocity higher, but I didn’t test it that way because most people run the pistol in its standard configuration (without a long exposed barrel sticking out).

Accuracy Testing (30 Feet)

For the accuracy test, I put a paper target at 30 feet and fired 10 rounds. The nice thing here is that the pistol should lock back on the last shot, so it makes it easy to confirm you’re done without having to count.

Results were excellent for a quick out-of-the-box test:

  • With the exception of one flyer, everything was within about an inch

  • The group was well-centered left-to-right

  • Elevation was also very good without any sight adjustments

There isn’t much you can do for sight adjustment on this one unless you add a laser or optic, but you can tweak elevation slightly via hop-up, depending on your setup.

Final Thoughts

This pistol performed really well for me today.

The KJ Works KP-19S has that 1911-style trigger feel, light, short, and responsive, paired with a snappy blowback that makes it fun to shoot. Velocity was consistent once the chronograph started behaving, and the 30-foot grouping was far better than I expected without any tuning.

Aesthetically, it’s also a great-looking gun: a tactical, modern two-tone style with a double-stack magazine look that gives it that “2011 / hi-cap tactical 1911” vibe. If that’s the style you’re after, the KP-19S is a strong choice.

It should also work with most KJ Works tactical 1911 / double-stack style magazines, so if you already own similar KJ Works pistols, you may be able to mix and match mags. You can also run green gas magazines, but velocity will generally be lower. If you do choose to run the extended / threaded barrel setup, you can hide it with a mock compensator, but it will turn the pistol into a longer, bulkier package. Personally, I prefer it in the standard configuration.

Where to Buy

You can check this pistol out in our Canada Store (and possibly the US Store, depending on availability). I’ll include links where applicable, along with general store links where you can browse airguns, BB guns, airsoft guns, pellet guns, blank guns, and accessories.

KJWorks KP-19S CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol Table Top Review

In this Table Top Review, we’re taking a detailed look at the KJ Works KP-19S CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol. I’ve already reviewed the standard KP-19 in the past, and while the two pistols share a lot in common, there are some important differences between the KP-19 and the KP-19S that are worth covering.

I’m not entirely sure what the “S” officially stands for, possibly Sport—but interestingly, I’d actually argue that the non-S KP-19 is the more competition-oriented version, especially for IPSC-style Airsoft shooting. That said, the KP-19S still offers excellent performance, strong build quality, and a feature-rich design.

As always, this is a Table Top Review only. A full Shooting / Field Test Video will follow later.

This pistol is currently available in our Canada Replica Airguns store, and if a similar model is available in the US store, links will be provided in the video description.

  • KP-19S CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol

  • Full-size metal CO2 magazine

  • Inner barrel extension

  • Allen keys

  • Small bag of Airsoft BBs

  • Instruction manual (Usually!)

The pistol comes packaged in a basic cardboard box, but all essential accessories are included.

KP-19 vs KP-19S – What’s Different?

The KP-19S shares most of its core design with the standard KP-19:

  • Same frame, grip, slide profile, trigger guard

  • Same skeletonized trigger and hammer

  • Same magazine compatibility

Key Differences

  • KP-19 (Non-S):

    • Flared magwell

    • Compensator

    • Removable rear plate for mounting a red dot

    • More competition-oriented configuration

  • KP-19S:

    • No flared magwell (cleaner, more streamlined look)

    • Fixed rear sight

    • Two-tone appearance

Performance between the two should be nearly identical, and if you’ve already watched the field test for the standard KP-19, expect similar results from the S version.

Walk-Around & Handling:

The KP-19S is a large pistol with a fairly wide grip. Shooters with smaller hands may find it bulky, but balance and weight distribution are excellent. At just under two pounds, it feels solid without being overly heavy.

Notable features include:

  • Slide cutouts on the top and sides

  • CNC-style gold/brass-colored fluted barrel visible through the slide

  • Fiber-optic sights that are extremely easy to pick up

  • Ambidextrous safety

  • Reversible magazine release

  • Dual threaded barrel system (inner and outer threads)

The full blowback action is strong, crisp, and satisfying, with excellent slide movement and reset.

Field Strip:

Field stripping follows a classic 1911 takedown:

  1. Align the slide notch

  2. Push out the takedown pin

  3. Remove the slide assembly

Once opened, you gain easy access to:

  • Inner barrel

  • Recoil spring

  • Hop-up adjustment wheel

Reassembly is quick and straightforward, making cleaning and maintenance easy.

Pros:

  • High metal content with excellent weight and balance

  • Strong, realistic full blowback action

  • Excellent fit and finish typical of KJ Works pistols

  • High-capacity 25-round metal magazine

  • CO2 or gas compatibility (with appropriate magazines)

  • Dual threaded barrel for accessories and extensions

  • Bright fiber-optic sights (easy to acquire on any background)

  • Short, light, adjustable 1911-style trigger

  • Ambidextrous safety and reversible mag release

  • Easy field stripping and hop-up access

Cons:

  • Grip is wide and may not suit shooters with smaller hands

  • Higher price point compared to similar KWC 1911 models

  • Rear sight is not adjustable and does not accept a red-dot plate

    • Optics would need to be rail-mounted from underneath

Final Thoughts:

The KJ Works KP-19S is a high-quality, full-featured CO2 blowback Airsoft pistol with excellent build quality, strong recoil, and competition-inspired styling. While it lacks some of the modular competition features of the KP-19 non-s version, it offers a cleaner, streamlined look and the same reliable performance.

If you’re looking for a quality CO2 Airsoft pistol with a fantastic trigger, solid blowback, and premium construction, the KP-19S is a strong contender.

A full shooting and field test video will be coming soon.

KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol Table Top Review

Type: Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol.
Manufacturer: Distributed by KJ Works.
Model: KP-19.
Materials: Mostly all Metal.
Weight: 1.9 pounds (850 grams).
Total Length: 10.6 inches (270mm)
Barrel: 4.25 inches (108mm) metal non-rifled.
Propulsion: CO2 x 1.
Action: Semi auto blowback, SAO trigger.
Ammunition Type: .6mm plastic Airsoft BB’s.
Ammunition Capacity: 25 round drop out full size metal magazine.
FPS: Claimed 360+.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is excellent, it is super short and light as you would expect from a 1911 trigger, the makeup is almost non-existent with a super light release. Out of the box I find it perfect but you have the option of adjusting it with the supplied Allen key since it has competition adjustably. Like I said, out of the box it felt perfect to me so there is no real need to mess around with it.

Accuracy: At this point I have not shot the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol or made my Field Test Performance Video. I have shot my fair share of KJWorks Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols and they have in general performed very well for me, so I am confident when I get to the Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol it will do a great job!

Build Quality: The KJWorks line of Airsoft Guns is known for their excellent build and overall quality and the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is no exception. You will find all metal for the most part including some CNC Aluminum parts like the barrel and compensator, the slide and frame are metal along with the magazine and most of the controls. The pistol grip and trigger guard is all in one and the main plastic you will find on the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol. Weight, feel and balance is really good.

Realism: The KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is a double stack modern tactical 1911 in design. All of the controls and the overall design are that of a 1911 and so if you are use to shooting 1911’s, then you will be accustomed to this Airsoft Pistol. The full length blowback simulates the shooting experience along with some recoil feel and also allows for that true single action only trigger we are use to with 1911’s with its short and super light trigger pull. The KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is fully field strippable which allows for easy to get to hop-up adjustments. I did notice that the Back-strap safety is non-functioning and just there for show, I am not sure why they did not make it a working safety?

Pros:

  • Lots of metal parts with good weight to it at nearly 2 pounds.

  • Full heavy blowback operation.

  • Excellent fit and finish as always with KJWorks pistols.

  • High capacity full-size drop out magazine that holds 25 rounds.

  • Picatinny rail underneath for adding accessories.

  • Adaptor plate for adding a red dot to the rear of the slide.

  • I like the green dot fiber optic sights, super easy to see on all backgrounds.

  • I like the two tone CNC aluminum barrel finish you can also see through the slide cutouts.

  • Super short and light skeletonized adjustable trigger looks and feels great.

  • Can use CO2 or gas magazines.

  • Field strip-able.

Cons:

  • Grips are wide, may not fit the hands of small shooters.

  • Not all controls are ambidextrous.

  • Rear sight is not adjustable.

  • Back-strap safety is non-functioning.

Comments:

I’ve mentioned in many of my videos how I really like 1911 styled pistols and of course ones with full blowback operation, so the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol for me is a winner even before I even try it. Of course how it performs is going to be the real deciding factor, even if I am rooting for it. What is not to like though? It is almost all metal, has full blowback operation, easy to see fiver optic sights front and back, the ability to add a laser or tac light up front with a red dot on the back by installing the adaptor plate so you can really dress this one up and make it your own at the end of the day.

KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol Field Test Review

In this Field Test Shooting Video I perform two main test in the Replica Airguns Sea Can using the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol. First a chronograph test to see what the real world velocity is and then I perform an accuracy test to see how accurate the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol is at 30 feet from the target. If you’re interested more in specifications and details along with close up video of the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol then check out my Table Top Video Review for it where I show you around and do a field strip on camera.

Starting off with my chronograph velocity test. I decided to find out what the differences would be using the included internal short barrel and the extended external barrel since the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol does come with both in the box to allow for higher fps and easier import into Canada. The KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol is rated for 360+ fps using the extended longer barrel so I used that one first to establish a baseline and was able to achieve a 394 fps 4 shot average. Switching up to the shorter internal barrel without the extension, the velocity was reduces as expected and I got an average 3 shoot velocity of 301 fps. So I can safely say that the barrel extension added an additional 90+ fps to the velocity in this case!

Next I placed a brand new paper target 30 feet down range and shot ten 20 gram Airsoft BB’s into it using a seated shooting position with my hands resting on a sand bag up front, this allows for a fairly stable platform to shoot from but is not without some human error to factor in. I also decided to use the barrel extension for this test as the threading on the end of the internal barrel can disrupt airflow causing air turbulence a bit and effect accuracy. I was able to get around a 2 inch grouping with my 10 rounds. The KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol shot a bit low and to the left out fo the box, adjusting the hop-up should correct the elevation but in terms of windage there is not sight adjustment other than perhaps playing around with the front removable sight and trying to movie it a bit to the left so as to make it shoot more to the right.

My take on the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol is it is a solid Airsoft Shooter with great modern 1911 tactical looks. The white dot sights make it a lot easier for my older eyes to line up on the target which makes this more practical for me. I also like the higher capacity magazine which again makes this a decent side arm for Airsoft wars. If you like the look of the 1911 but want it in a bit more of a modern configuration then the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol may just be the way to go!

KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol Table Top Review

Type: GBB Airsoft Pistol.
Manufacturer: KJWorks
Model: KP-16
Materials: Mostly all metal build.
Weight: 2.16 pounds (980 grams).
Barrel: 4.5 inches, non-rifled.
Length: 9.75 inches.
Propulsion: Green Gas / Propane (Can also accept a CO2 Magazine)
Action: Semi Auto, single action only trigger.
Ammunition Type: 6mm Plastic Airsoft BB's.
Ammunition Capacity: 26 round full size dropout metal magazine.
FPS: 366+ with extended barrel.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol is exactly what your would expect from a 1911 pistol which is always a good thing as 1911’s are generally short and light which makes fast action shooting super fun and easy! There is virtually no take-up in the trigger, and then a predictable nice and light release. Trigger reset is almost non existent like most 1911’s.

Accuracy: I have not yet made my Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol but plan to next week so stay posted for that video. I will be testing out both the included extended barrel and internal short barrels to see what the velocity difference will be and then when it comes to accuracy I will test out the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol using the extended barrel to exclude the threading on the short barrel interfering with airflow and accuracy.

Build Quality: The KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol is a really great looking pistol with its tan with black/dark accent finish. You will find it has that KJWorks solid build quality, it is virtually all metal even including the chunky grips being metal. Fit and finish is excellent, I’m not sure if there is a better made Airsoft 1911 out there?

Realism: As is with most Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols they are built to look and act the part of their real steel counterparts and the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol checks off all the boxes here! All mechanical parts work just like the real steel version and you can easily field strip the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol to swap out the internal barrel and adjust the hop-up. I like the fact that If you are not a fan of the compensator extension then you will be happy to know that KJWorks also includes a standard barrel bushing you can replace it with to shorten up the gun and make it look more traditional to a 1911.

Pros:

  • Full metal gun with good weight to it.

  • Heavy Full blowback operation.

  • Excellent fit and finish as always with KJWorks pistols.

  • High capacity full size drop out magazine that holds 26 rounds.

  • Versatile magazine options, also works with CO2 magazines.

  • Easy to see white dot sights front and back.

  • All working components like the real steel 1911.

  • Vented extended barrel compensator looks great but can be removed easily.

  • Comes with extended barrel for higher velocity and easier import into Canada.

  • Field strip-able.

Cons:

  • Sights are not adjustable.

  • Real steel grips will not fit without some modifications.

Comments:
In terms of Tactical 1911’s, I would saye the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol is one of my favorites out there. I really like the tan with dark highlights and the way KJWorks decided to match up the metal grips with the compensator with what I would call a dark chrome look to them. The KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol really does look like it is right out of a video game or movie but if you want to dress it down a bit you can also remove the compensator to make it look more like most other Tactical 1911’s. I guess all that’s need to do now is test the KJWorks KP-16 GBB Airsoft Pistol out in the Replica Airguns Sea Can Range and see how well it performs!
