Umarex P2P Secure 68P Less Lethal .68 Cal Impact Penetration Damage Video

Today, we’re putting the Umarex P2P Secure 68P .68 Caliber Less Lethal Pistol to the test to see what kind of penetration and impact power it can deliver against a variety of real-world materials.

We already ran this pistol through our standard field and chronograph testing. Shooting a 3-gram .68 caliber nylon round, we clocked it right around 330 FPS (against the claimed 350 FPS rating), which places its output somewhere in that solid 15 to 19 Joules range. While it doesn't pack the massive 30-Joule punch of the larger T4E T68/TC68 rifle platform, it is significantly more compact, lightweight, and easy to handle.

Let’s see what happens when the P2P Secure 68P goes up against three different target surfaces: 3-ply construction plywood, a galvanized steel trash can lid, and a heavy-duty plastic bucket lid.

Target 1: The 3-Ply Plywood Test

We kicked things off with standard 3-ply plywood to test structural penetration.

  • Shot 1 & 2: Firing a couple of quick rounds downrange, the nylon projectiles hit with high velocity and bounced right back. Both shots left clear, prominent surface impact marks and slight indentations on the wood face.

  • The Verdict: Unlike the full-size T68 rifle—which punched clean through the board—the Secure 68P did not penetrate the 3-ply plywood. That said, it transferred a lot of kinetic energy onto the surface, leaving visible damage right where the rounds struck.

Target 2: The Galvanized Steel Challenge

Next up was the heavy-duty galvanized steel trash can lid. Steel is notoriously unforgiving, but it provides a great gauge of raw kinetic impact.

  • The Impact: Firing a couple of rounds directly at the lower/center area of the lid resulted in loud, crisp strikes.

  • The Verdict: The pistol put solid, noticeable dings and dents right into the steel. While it obviously won't punch clean through galvanized sheet metal like a rifle platform, you can see the sheer kinetic force behind these .68 caliber nylon balls.

Target 3: The Plastic Bucket Lid

For our final barrier test, we taped up a standard plastic bucket lid to see how the pistol interacts with a slightly more flexible polymer target.

  • The Shots: We put a couple of rounds into the plastic lid, with one shot striking slightly higher near the reinforced rim and a follow-up round hitting cleanly in the center target area.

  • The Verdict: While the rounds didn't punch clean through on the first couple of tries, the direct hit left a very deep, prominent divot stretched deep into the plastic. With a few concentrated shots in the same zone, it has more than enough energy to breach standard plastic containers.

Less-Lethal Defense & Deterrent Capability

Looking at these results, the Umarex P2P Secure 68P stands out as a highly capable and practical less-lethal home defense option.

  • Practical Stopping Power: If an intruder or threat is heading your way, getting hit with a 3-gram .68 caliber nylon projectile traveling over 330 FPS is going to hurt tremendously. Against everyday clothing like t-shirts, jeans, or light jackets, it delivers immediate, painful deterrence that will make anyone rethink their direction.

  • Ergonomics & Ease of Use: The pistol is super quick and intuitive to reload with spare magazines, uses a standard trigger safety, and offers manageable recoil while maintaining sufficient defensive energy.

Umarex P2P Secure 68P Less Lethal .68 Cal Impact Pistol Field Test Review

The Umarex P2P Secure 68P continues to impress as a serious, compact less-lethal option designed for personal defense and deterrence. In this field test review, I put this .68 caliber less-lethal launcher through its paces in our indoor range to test real-world velocity, energy output, and target accuracy under typical room-temperature conditions (around 20°C / 68°F). Chronograph & Power Test

For the velocity test, I loaded up 3-gram nylon .68 caliber rounds powered by a fresh 12g CO2 cartridge. Out of the box, the Secure 68P claims a velocity of approximately 350 FPS and around 19 Joules of muzzle energy.

Shooting a full 6-round magazine through the chronograph produced very consistent readings across the board:

  • Shot 1: 336 FPS

  • Shot 2: 320 FPS

  • Shot 3: 326 FPS

  • Shot 4: 315 FPS

  • Shot 5: 314 FPS

  • Shot 6: 332 FPS

The velocity held together surprisingly well across the entire magazine with minimal drop-off. Taking our top speed reading of 336 FPS with 3-gram rounds, the P2P Secure 68P generates a maximum muzzle energy output well above 15 Joules (getting reasonably close to the claimed 19 Joules), which delivers plenty of impact energy for a compact CO2-powered launcher.

Accuracy Testing

Moving on to accuracy, I set up a paper target downrange at 30 feet and fired six rounds using the same CO2 cylinder.

Because .68 caliber nylon rounds and paintball-style projectiles lack the precision aerodynamics of steel BBs or lead pellets, they naturally tend to wander slightly. However, placing my sights right underneath the bullseye yielded an impressive 5-inch grouping for all six shots.

The elevation for the Umarex P2P Secure 68P was nearly spot-on straight out of the box at 30 feet, delivering consistent, centralized placement on the target.

Practical Takeaways & Performance

  • Trigger Pull: The trigger is on the heavier and longer side, particularly on the initial pull as it punctures the CO2 cartridge. While a heavy trigger requires controlled pressure during slow target practice, it serves as a practical safety feature to prevent accidental discharges in high-stress situations.

Today, we are focusing on a heavy hitter in the home defense category: the Umarex P2P Secure 68P Less Lethal Impact Pistol. As is standard for our Table Top videos, we won't be doing any actual firing today, that’s saved for the upcoming Field Test, but we are going to dive deep into the design, features, and feel of this .68 caliber device.

Built around the paintball concept but strictly intended as a less-lethal deterrent, the Secure 68P is designed to handle everything from nylon and heavy rubber rounds to pepper, powder, and glass-breaker balls. Umarex also includes a fantastic zippered soft-shell case to keep the pistol and all your included starter ammo neatly organized.

When you pick up the Secure 68P, the first thing you'll notice is its sheer size. It has a much chunkier, bulkier footprint compared to standard 1:1 replica sidearms, but that extra mass gives it a commanding presence. While the outer frame and the slide itself are constructed from a tough, lightweight plastic, Umarex didn't skimp where it counts. The internal framework, the barrel, the trigger mechanism, and the fully removable magazine are all forged from solid metal, giving the pistol a very balanced, sturdy feel in the hand.

Handling & Controls

Operating this less-lethal device is straightforward and geared toward high-stress scenarios. Everything centers around the full-metal drop-out magazine, which houses your six rounds of .68 caliber ammunition. The 12-gram CO2 cartridge sites right under the barrel built into the slide loaded from the front (by the way the Magazine doubles as the CO2 tightening tool). Because the gun relies entirely on a double-action trigger and lacks a blowback feature, 100% of the CO2 pressure is channeled directly into launching the heavy projectiles making it worth the slightly heavier trigger pull.

The trigger pull itself is relatively smooth, though you will definitely notice a heavier initial pull on that very first shot once the CO2 is pierced. For added utility, there is a standard Picatinny rail located beneath the muzzle, making it incredibly easy to attach a tactical flashlight or laser to help you navigate dark areas.

Sights & Optics

To assist with aiming in low-light environments, the Secure 68P is outfitted with bright fiber-optic sights on both the front and the back. While they are fixed and cannot be adjusted for windage or elevation, they do an excellent job of gathering ambient light, ensuring you can acquire your target quickly when you need to most.

Performance Expectations

This impact pistol is built for raw stopping power. Pushing a massive .68 caliber projectile at roughly 350 FPS yields an impressive 19 Joules of energy. Whether you load it with dense nylon balls or heavy rubber rounds, you can expect significant blunt-force trauma upon impact. I am incredibly eager to get this beast into the indoor shooting range to test its actual chrony numbers and accuracy on a paper target. Perhaps there will also be a future penetration test on a variety of object.

Replica Airguns July 2026 Unboxing Video - Yes Another One

Hey everyone, Michael here from Replica Airguns. We’ve got another July unboxing video for you! If you're wondering why we have two in the same week, I recently realized I had a tiny mystery box video (featuring the ASG CZ P10C) all finished and ready to go, but I completely forgot to hit publish on it. Better late than never!

After getting a little low on review gear in the warehouse, I decided to bring in a new, medium-sized box of goodies to test out. Here’s a quick look at the highlights of what just landed.

Gear Stock Copper-Coated BBs

First out of the box, we have some Gear Stock copper-coated steel BBs. I typically prefer using zinc-alloy BBs, but I haven't used this specific brand specifically. I’m eager to run these through a few tests to see how they perform and whether they may corrode long term leave any black residue in the barrel or on the gun.

Umarex P2P Secure 68P Impact Defense Kit

Next up is the Umarex Prepare to Protect (P2P) Secure 68P, a .68 caliber less-lethal impact defense kit. Right off the bat, the packaging screams quality, it comes in a really nice, durable nylon soft case.

Inside, you get a great variety of ammunition to load into its 6 round metal magazine:

  • 6 glass breaker impact rounds

  • 6 powder practice rounds

  • 6 rubber impact rounds

The pistol itself features a double-action trigger, runs on 12g CO2 (which they thoughtfully include in the kit), and fires at a velocity of around 350 FPS. It has a great weight and feel to it, and I'm looking forward to getting this on the chronograph.

Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine (Model 1999)

Finally, we have something that’s just pure fun: the Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine 1999. It's a classic lever-action BB rifle but with a modern, outdoorsy twist.

Instead of the traditional wood look, this model features a really cool green stock with a matching trigger. It also brings some nice upgrades to the table, including a Picatinny rail for mounting a red dot or optical scope, a fiber optic front sight, and an adjustable rear sight for elevation. It holds a massive 650 BBs and shoots right around 350 FPS. I haven’t shot one of these green stock versions yet, and I already know it's going to be a blast for backyard plinking.

Umarex T4E TP50 Less Lethal Paintball Pistol Penetration Test

Today we are staying dry inside out of the rain and stepping into the indoor range for a practical field test and penetration review of the Umarex T4E TP50 Less Lethal Pistol. If you are looking for a legal and unregulated deterrent for home defense that packs a surprising punch, you’ll want to see how this .50 caliber paintball-style pistol performs straight out of the box.

The Test Setup

For this test, we are keeping the TP50 entirely stock. There are no valve modifications or aftermarket upgrades here, this is exactly what you get when you open the box.

We are shooting from a distance of approximately 30 feet. Here are the specs on the ammunition and power for today's test:

  • Ammunition: .50 caliber rubber balls with a steel core. These are slightly less dense than nylon but heavier than standard rubber due to the steel center. (Just under 3 grams)

  • Power Output: Pushing roughly 12 to 13 Joules.

  • Velocity: Traveling at just over 300 feet per second (fps).

Our targets for today include a solid piece of 3-ply wood, a metal trash can lid and some thick plastic bucket lids to see exactly what kind of damage this less-lethal option can do.

Target 1: The 3-Ply Wood Test

First up was the 3-ply wood. Given the velocity and the dense nature of the target, I wasn't expecting the Umarex T4E TP50 Less Lethal Pistol to blow right through the wood.

After putting a couple of rounds downrange, the results were impressive. While it didn't fully penetrate the 3-ply, it hit with a resounding smack and left significant, visible damage on the surface. Honestly, this gun shoots much hotter than I remembered. It is absolutely no slouch.

Target 2: The Galvanized Steel Garbage Can Lid

second up, I aimed at the galvanized steel garbage can lid. Going into this stage, I expected the .50 caliber round to simply smack the surface and fall straight to the ground without penetrating, which is exactly what happened.

However, even though it didn't punch a hole through the metal, the sheer force of the impact was undeniable. The round hit the steel hard, proving that even against dense, unforgiving surfaces, the TP50 is pumping out some serious kinetic energy.

Target 3: The Plastic Barrel Lids

Next, we moved on to the plastic barrel lids. I expected the TP50 to punch through a single lid, so we taped two of them together to see how far it could push.

This is where the Umarex T4E TP50 Less Lethal Pistol really showed its teeth. When I fired, the recoil actually threw my hand back, this gun has genuine kick to it, especially when firing these heavier steel-core rounds.

It does seem to shoot a bit on the high side at 30 feet, so I ended up hitting the target near the top edge. Even so, the steel-core rubber ball blew cleanly through the first plastic lid and struck the second. That level of penetration from a stock, 12-Joule less-lethal pistol is incredibly impressive.

Final Thoughts

The Umarex T4E TP50 is a powerhouse for an out-of-the-box, unregulated less-lethal pistol. While it's designed as a deterrent rather than a lethal option, the 12 to 13 Joules of energy paired with steel-core rubber balls provides more than enough kick to send a very clear message to anyone who shouldn't be up to no good and on your property.

Umarex T4E TC68 Less Lethal Paintball Rifle Penetration Test

Today, since it’s raining outside, we are back in the Sea Can Indoor Airgun Shooting Range running a practical indoor field and penetration test on a true heavy hitter from Umarex's T4E lineup: the TC68 (.68 caliber) less-lethal paintball rifle.

If you haven't seen the tabletop video covering the exterior and specs of this rifle, make sure to check that out first. Today is all about seeing what happens when high-velocity nylon meets plywood and steel.

The Setup & Modifications

For this test, we are shooting solid nylon balls that weigh just under 3 grams. However, we are not running this rifle stock.

I’ve slightly modified this TC68 by adjusting the internal velocity valve. By turning that valve further in with a headless Allen key, the gun delivers a larger burst of CO2 per shot. Instead of the stock 15 Joules, this simple screw adjustment pushes the rifle closer to 30 Joules of kinetic energy.

Even with that massive power increase, the nylon balls are traveling at roughly 460 feet per second (fps). Because it stays under the 500 fps threshold, this modified setup remains completely legal here in Canada without requiring a specialized firearms license.

A Quick Note on CO2 Performance: It is worth mentioning that the dual 12 gram CO2 cartridge setup used during this specific test were not brand new, which likely affected the power output to some degree. Because of this, I am planning on making a similar penetration test video in the future using a brand new 88-gram CO2 cylinder, which I believe will perform significantly better and yield even higher kinetic energy transfer.

The Penetration Test

To see what nearly 30 Joules of .68 caliber impact looks like, we set up three different targets.

Target 1: 3-Ply Plywood

  • I fired a few rounds straight into 3-ply plywood.

  • The high-velocity nylon balls went right through the wood with zero hesitation, even punching through the knots.

  • While the velocity naturally dipped slightly after the first couple of shots as the CO2 cooled, the penetration power on those initial shots was absolute.

Target 2: Heavy Galvanized Steel

  • Next, we tested the rifle against heavy galvanized steel, specifically, a thick garbage can lid.

  • The nylon balls did not penetrate the steel, which is completely expected for a less-lethal platform, but maybe fresh CO2 would have made a difference?

  • However, the impact was incredibly loud and left massive, deep dings in the metal.

Target 3: The Double-Smash Test

  • For the final test, we set up a stacked, double-layered plastic bucket lid target.

  • The TC68 smashed straight through the setup, putting a clean hole right through all layers.

Practical Application & Safety Notes

One of the best features of the Umarex T4E TC68 Less Lethal Paintball Rifle is the quick-pierce CO2 system located in the buttstock. You can load your CO2 and keep it unpierced until the exact moment you need it, ensuring your seals don’t wear out while it sits in the closet. However, be careful, I accidentally pierced my CO2 before the test just by resting the buttstock too hard on the ground!

Ultimately, this is a fantastic tool for home defense. If you ever have individuals trespassing or causing trouble, the intent with this rifle is not to kill, it is strictly less-lethal. The goal is to motivate them to leave your property immediately. Having a less-lethal option like this also provides a much more defensible position should a situation ever go to court.

Umarex T4E TP50 Gen 2 CO2 Paintball Pistol Field Test Review

The Umarex T4E TP50 Gen 2 continues to impress as one of the more powerful and practical compact less-lethal pistols currently available. In this field test review, I tested the all-black version using .50 caliber rubber-steel core rounds to see how it performs in terms of velocity, energy, and real-world accuracy. The black version is essentially the same as the orange-marked variant, just marketed a bit differently, with a more tactical appearance that may appeal to those looking for a serious training or home defense-style option.

For ammunition, I used the steel-core rubber balls rather than standard solid rubber rounds. These projectiles are slightly heavier and seem to carry noticeably more energy downrange without sacrificing too much velocity. In my opinion, they are probably some of the best ammunition choices for these types of pistols if maximum impact energy is your goal.

Velocity testing through the chronograph produced some very impressive numbers. The TP50 Gen 2 delivered readings of 319 FPS, 304 FPS, 310 FPS, 300 FPS, and 308 FPS, averaging just over 308 feet per second. With the steel-core rubber rounds weighing approximately 2.7 grams, the pistol produced roughly 12-13 Joules of muzzle energy using the Steel Core Rubber Balls but would have been closer the projected 15 Joules with all Rubber Balls, which is extremely respectable for a compact CO2-powered .50 caliber launcher. You can really hear and feel the power when firing this pistol, and it even generates noticeable recoil-like kick during shooting.

Accuracy testing was performed from 30 feet downrange using the six-round internal magazine. Paintball-style projectiles are naturally less precise than pellets or BBs due to their softer construction, surface ridges, and aerodynamic inconsistencies, but the Umarex T4E TP50 Gen 2 still delivered surprisingly solid grouping performance. After adjusting my aim slightly low due to the pistol shooting a little high initially, the remaining shots grouped well into the center portion of the target and produced clean, sharp holes through the paper target with about a 3 inch grouping.

In practical terms, this pistol clearly delivers enough impact energy to strongly discourage an attacker or aggressive threat. The steel-core rubber rounds hit extremely hard, especially considering the combination of high velocity and projectile mass. While heavy clothing would certainly absorb some impact, anyone wearing lighter clothing would absolutely feel these rounds. The all-black appearance also adds to the realistic tactical styling, which alone could act as a deterrent before a shot is ever fired.

Overall, the Umarex T4E TP50 Gen 2 proved to be accurate enough for close-range defensive-style use, delivered excellent power, and offered reliable operation throughout testing. The trigger feels good, the pistol handles nicely, and the performance with steel-core rubber ammunition was impressive across the board. For anyone looking for a compact CO2-powered less-lethal launcher with strong energy output and solid build quality, the TP50 Gen 2 is definitely worth considering.

In this table top review, we’re taking a look at the Umarex T4E TP50 Gen 2 CO2 Paintball Pistol, part of Umarex’s T4E (Training for Engagement) lineup. This version is marketed more as a tactical training pistol, while its nearly identical counterpart, the HDP50, is positioned toward home defense.

At first glance, the TP50 and HDP50 look almost identical. The main visual difference is that the TP50 comes in an all-black finish, while the HDP50 features an orange slide. Beyond that, the functionality, performance, and specs are essentially the same.

Next up is the Umarex T4E TP50 Gen 2, this time in the all-black tactical version rather than the more recognizable orange training model.

Umarex T4E TC 68 Less Lethal Paintball Rifle Field Test Review

In this Field Test Shooting Review I’m taking a look at the Umarex T4E TC68 .68 caliber paintball / less-lethal marker to see how it performs in terms of velocity, accuracy, and overall shooting experience.

I have already done a Table Top Review covering the specifications, features, and overall purpose of the TC68, so make sure to check that video out if you want the full breakdown of the gun itself. This field test review is focused strictly on real-world performance.

For this test the TC68 has been de-restricted, meaning the adjustment screw has been modified slightly so it can reach its full potential. Even with this adjustment it should still remain legally compliant here in Canada, since the velocity will remain under the 500 fps threshold.

For ammunition I used .68 caliber nylon rounds:

  • Black rounds: approximately 2.8 grams

  • Yellow rounds: approximately 2.6 grams

The TC68 in this test is powered using dual 12-gram CO2 cartridges, rather than the larger 88-gram CO2 cylinder, which will affect both shot consistency and total shot count.

Velocity Testing

For the velocity portion of the test I fired several shots through my chronograph.

Chronograph readings were somewhat tricky to capture at first, but once everything started working correctly I was able to record several shots.

Example readings included:

  • 476 fps

  • 463 fps

  • 453 fps

  • 445 fps

The velocity dropped slightly during the test, which is expected when using dual 12-gram CO2 cartridges, as they cool down fairly quickly during rapid shooting.

The slightly heavier 2.8-gram black rounds were also used for some of the shots, which can contribute to minor changes in velocity compared to the lighter 2.6-gram rounds.

Even with that drop, performance was still strong and suggests the TC68 could likely reach high-400 fps velocities with a fresh CO2 setup or an 88-gram CO2 cylinder, which provides much greater gas capacity and improved consistency.

Accuracy Testing

For the accuracy portion of the test I set up a paper target down range and loaded roughly 20 rounds into the magazine.

The first test consisted of 10 shots in semi-automatic mode using the heavier black nylon rounds. A red-dot optic was installed on the TC68 for aiming, though it had not been sighted in or adjusted beforehand.

Results were quite respectable for a marker shooting heavy .68 caliber rounds.

  • Overall grouping was approximately 4 inches

  • Most shots landed within a 2.5–3 inch cluster

  • One shot landed slightly low outside the main group

Considering the optic was not adjusted and this was essentially a right-out-of-the-box test, the accuracy was quite good.

Full-Auto Shooting Test

After the semi-auto accuracy test I attempted a full-auto burst test, but quickly discovered the CO2 had been depleted.

After installing fresh CO2 cartridges, the full-auto test was repeated with approximately 20 rounds loaded.

The TC68 does not have an extremely fast rate of fire, but it still delivers a solid stream of rounds when the trigger is held down.

During full-auto fire:

  • The gun remained fairly controllable

  • Rate of fire was moderate but effective

  • CO2 cooling became noticeable during sustained bursts

A fresh target confirmed that the TC68 was still accurate enough for defensive-style shooting, keeping the majority of rounds within the main target area even during burst fire.

Power and Energy

Using approximately 2.8-gram nylon rounds traveling around 475 fps, the TC68 is producing significantly more energy than its factory-rated 16-joule output. Closer to 30 joules!

The modification performed simply allows the power adjustment screw to reach its full depth, allowing the marker to operate closer to its maximum potential.

While exact energy figures will depend on projectile weight and velocity, the TC68 in this configuration appears capable of producing considerably higher energy levels than stock, while still remaining under the 500 fps legal limit in Canada.

Shooting Impressions

Overall the Umarex T4E TC68 proved to be a solid and reliable platform during testing.

Some observations from the field test:

What I liked

  • Strong velocity potential

  • Good accuracy for a .68 caliber marker

  • Full-auto capability for rapid follow-up shots

  • Compatible with multiple CO2 power options

Things to consider

  • Dual 12-gram CO2 cartridges cool down quickly

  • Larger 88-gram CO2 cylinders will provide better consistency

  • The gun includes multiple safety mechanisms that require familiarity

The TC68 includes three levels of safety, which helps prevent accidental discharge but does require some practice to become comfortable with the controls.

Final Thoughts

The Umarex T4E TC68 performed well in this field test.

Velocity was strong, accuracy was respectable for a .68 caliber marker, and the full-auto capability adds an interesting dimension to the platform.

With proper setup and a fresh CO2 source, the TC68 has the potential to deliver high-energy shots while still remaining within Canadian legal limits.

Overall it’s a very capable paintball / less-lethal marker and definitely an interesting option for those looking for a high-power .68 caliber platform.

Initial “gut feel” shooting suggests the factory setting is already pushing hard for a training marker, with performance feeling consistent with the advertised 16J class.

Build Quality

The TC68 is largely polymer on the outside, but it doesn’t feel like a toy. The weight is substantial, controls feel solid, and the overall package is clearly built for training and repeated handling. You’re getting a robust platform designed to run multiple air sources and a wide range of .68 caliber projectiles without needing a bunch of aftermarket parts just to get started.

Realism / Ergonomics / Controls

Visually and ergonomically the TC68 leans into an AR-style layout:

  • AR-style grip geometry (and AR-compatible grip fitment style)

  • Full-length Picatinny top rail

  • M-LOK on the handguard (sides and bottom) for lights, foregrips, etc.

  • Ambidextrous selector (Safe / Semi / Full)

It does not have real-steel operating controls like a charging handle or functional bolt/dust cover, this is a marker, not a firearm replica mechanism, but from a distance it reads like a modern sporting rifle pattern, which matters for training applications and general “presence.”

With Canadian legal gun owners losing their rights to own regulated Firearms more and more each day, being able to acquire something that is not regulated may be the best option for non-Firearms Licensed holders and Firearms Licensed holders.

Field test follow-up (chronograph + practical shooting) will matter a lot with this one, because performance varies dramatically with projectile type and weight. That’s where it will be most interesting to quantify real fps and estimated energy across a couple common round types.

It’s been a little while since I’ve done an unboxing, so we’ll call this the February 2026 Mystery Box Unboxing Video.

  • Storm Line BB Rifle (dual CO2, full auto): A traditional, “tamer-looking” BB rifle that’s anything but tame.

    • Capacity: 400-round main reservoir + 25-round ready magazine

    • Action: Full auto

    • Vibe: Affordable, high-volume backyard fun, while keeping the styling less “tactical,” which could help for markets like Canada.

  • Ridge Tech Lever Action (CO2): Lever actions are hot, and this one leans modern while staying simple and budget-friendly.

In this video (Part 2), I test out 2.7 gram rubber/steel balls (metal core) to find out what the velocity and accuracy is along with the overall joules energy rating. Umarex claims around 11 joules using the 1.6 gram standard rubber balls, I do expect less velocity and possibly less energy downrange with the heavier 2.7 gram ammunition. While I test out the velocity with my Chronograph, I also aim at a paper target setup 30 feet away to see just how accurate this ammo type is, and hopefully I get all 4 of the max rounds close to where I am aiming on the target.

Starting with velocity or power, I was hoping to get into the 250+ fps so I could get somewhere near the claimed 11 joules, but the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol shot more in the higher 100’s resulting in a three shot average of 176 fps. I did chronograph all 4 shots and they were somewhat close in velocity to each other: 159, 187, 176, 180 fps. Even then the average Joules was only around 4 which is a pretty far off the claimed 11 joules and even less than the 5 Joules I got using the standard all rubber 2.6 gram rubber balls. I did use a brand new CO2 and it was not exactly cold in my testing environment so I am too sure what caused the lower results from both ammo types?

While I was recording the velocity I was simultaneously recording the same 4 shots on the target and I did mange to get all 4 shots on my 8x11 paper target fairly well centered with a grouping with three of the 4 shots all within about 2.5 inches of each other adn very well center to the bullseye. One shot did hit a bit lower extending the group to around 5 inches. If this was an intruder I would have for sure been able to hit them easily at 30 feet away all within their main torso area. So in terms of accuracy with both ammo types, the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol was competent when using both the standard rubber balls and the rubber/steel balls I used in this review.

As mentioned in video 1 of this 2 part series, I do like the smaller size of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol over the non-compact version but it does seem to be down significantly on power as compared to its larger brother adn this was the case using both ammo types. I am not sure if it would be a good deterrent based on the power output I got in my Field Tests. I am sure it would not want to be on the receiving end of this Less Lethal Pistol, perhaps it the intended vital was not wearing any thick clothing it would deter them but even a light jacket would probably stop most of the impact. Maybe at close range some head and face shots would get the job done, but in the heat of the moment I would not count on being able to make those type of consistent shots. My advice is if you want to use the the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Rubber Ball Less Lethal Pistol as intended, then go with the non compact version as it does hit the claimed power rating and then some.

Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol Rubber Ball Field Test Review

This is part 1 of my 2 part Field Test for the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Rubber Ball Less Lethal Pistol. In this video (Part 1), I test out the included 1.6 gram solid rubber balls to find out what the velocity and accuracy is along with the overall joules rating. Umarex claims around 11 joules using the 1.6 gram rubber balls. While I test out the velocity with my Chronograph, I also aim at a paper target setup 30 feet downrange to see just how accuracy it is, and if I can get all 4 of the max rounds close to where I am aiming. In Part 2 I swap out the 1.6 gram rubber balls for 2.7 gram rubber'/steel balls that have a metal internal core.

Starting with velocity or power, I was hoping to get into the 300+ fps so I could get somewhere near the claimed 11 joules, but the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol shot more in the mid 200’s resulting in a three shot average of 255 fps. I did chronograph all 4 shots but the last shot was really low for some reason, so I tossed that one out to give the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol the benefit of the doubt. Even then the average joules was only 5 which is a far cry to the claimed 11 joules. I did use a brand new CO2 and it was not exactly cold in my testing environment so I am too sure what caused the lower result?

Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Rubber and Powder Ball Less Lethal Pistol Table Top Review

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is double action only but not overly long or heavy. There does not seem to be any ammo friction which is nice, so each round feels about the same with spring tension not playing much of a factor. In order to use the trigger, the Pistol will need to be fully charged by loading an 8 gram CO2 and giving it a smack on the bottom of the pistol grip of the CO2 screw. This will pierce the 8 gram CO2, charging the gun with pressure and activation the trigger mechanism. When the CO2 pressure becomes too low, the pressure indicator will retract and the trigger will not function and a new CO2 will be required for more shooting.

Accuracy: So far I have not tried out the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol in the Replica Airguns Indoor Airgun Shooting Range, I have shot its big brother the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 and it did shoot around a 6 inch 6 shot grouping for me with a velocity of around 450 fps that worked out to around a 15 joule energy rating. I do not expect the same from the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol as it is claimed with a lower velocity of 365 and an energy rating of 11 joules. It should get pretty close to this based on it’s bigger brother’s performance.

Build Quality: The build quality of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is very good overall. It is mostly made out of plastic which is fine, since it is designed to be a compact and portable pistol which should be on the lighter side. There is metal where it needs to be in most of the mechanical areas including the barrel, trigger, charging system and I am sure other internal parts. The plastic parts feel well made and fit and finish is very good. I wish the trigger guard that swings down to load the ammo clicked back into place better as it seems easy for it to open up and potentially get caught on clothing or objects while using it.

Realism: This version of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol comes with the orange slide area to show that it is not a lethal firearm. It may also come in an all black version but at this time we only sell the colored slide version. This does make it obvious that the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is not a “Real Firearm” designed for lethal encounters, which in Canada is a good thing since our self protection laws seem to favor the criminal more than the victim. Making sure you are using a tool designed to deter a criminal rather than harm or kill them, is hopefully going to keep you out of trouble with the legal system. That said the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol does look kinda like a modern or futuristic semi auto pistol and functions much the same but with a lot less force.

Pros:

  • Not many options for a true less-lethal option here in Canada. This Airgun is purpose built for less lethal use so it has what I believe a decent amount power to hopefully deter an intruder.

  • It is clearly marked in orange to indicate it is not an actual lethal firearm. When protecting yourself in Canada you have to be cautious with your intentions, and having clear orange markings will help in your case to show that you where not trying to give the impression of using a real firearm.

  • Decent power of claimed 365 fps with a 11 Joules energy rating.

  • Can store the 8 gram CO2 in it and activate with a quick hit to the bottom of the CO2 screw.

  • Holds 4 rounds in the internal magazine which hopefully gets the job done. Should be able to reload at least one more time for a total of 8 shots per 8 gram CO2.

  • Black post front and orange notch rear sights have enough contrast to make sighting on most targets stand out.

  • Double action trigger feels smooth and not too heavy, also has a trigger safety on it.

  • Comes with 10 rubber and 10 powder balls along with three 8 gram CO2 to get you started.

  • Compact size is nice if you want to cary it with you, (law permitting).

Cons:

  • Uses 8 gram CO2 which are harder to get and more expensive than 12 gram CO2, will also get less shots per CO2 and quicker cool down.

  • No Picatinny rail or adjustable sights.

  • Only holds 4 rounds.

  • In Canada it does not seem you can get pepper balls easily most likely due to import regulations.

Comments:

I really liked the big full size brother of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol and it did turn out to not only be fairly accurate but also performed well in the power category, coming in even a bit higher than the claimed 13 joules of energy with a real world rating for me of 15 joules using standard .50 caliber rubber balls. So I am hoping the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol with its 365 fps rating and 11 claimed joules will at least hit the mark. Yes it is a bit less powerful but it is also a lot smaller and more compact if you where interest in conceal caring it. Again law permitting in your area! Stay posted for my Field Test Shooting Video where I will find out if the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol performs as expected.

Mystery Box Unboxing Video Late December 2024

This video was made right at the end of December 2024 but I am posting it in the new year so we will call it a late December video… That makes two Mystery Box Videos for December 2024 which means a lot of new products on my plate to review this new year. Hopefully I can get a bunch of them done before I head out to SHOT Show this year in a couple of weeks as I will have a lot of videos and interviews to post for SHOT Show as is always the case when I get back.

Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol Pumpkin Target Test

I’ve already made a bunch of Field Test Shooting Videos for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol testing and comparing there different Ball Ammo types for it to see what the Velocity an Accuracy where for .50 caliber 1.6 gram Rubber Ball, 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Ball and 8 gram all Steel Balls. Make sure to watch those videos for that information.

Todays video is all about “damage”! How much damage can each of these .50 caliber ball options deliver to an object and the object of interest in todays video are a couple of over rip pumpkins that needed putting out of their misery. Luckily when I made this video the weather outside was cooperating with me and I go tI nice break in the rain. This was awesome as I was not looking forward to al the cleanup I would of had to of done if I performed this test inside the Replica Airgun Sea Can Shooting Range.

Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol Steel Ball Field Test Review

This is part three of my three part Indoor Filed Test Shooting Video for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. In this third video I test out the velocity and energy shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph using the 8 gram All Steel Balls that I purchased on my own to test with this Less Lethal Pistol. I also shoot 5 rounds of the same All Steel Balls into a paper target setup 30 feet down range to get an idea on what to expect accuracy wise with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. I have already uploaded Field Test Shooting Videos one and two where I test out 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls and 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls. If you have not watched my Table Top Video for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol, then make sure to do so for closer up video and all the specifications and details.

Umarex claims a max velocity of 485 fps with an energy rating of 13 Joules with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol when using their supplied ammo. I am assuming this would be using the Powder Balls as they are the lightest option of Ammo that are included in the box with this pistol and will have the highest velcoity. In my Chronograph testing I shot 5 rounds using the 8 gram All Steel balls. The velocity for the 8 gram All Steel Balls was much slower than the 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls and 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls as expected, but they did stay fairly consistent ranging from a low of 132 fps to a high of 151 fps, averaging 138 fps. The overall energy rating ended up being the slowest by far out of all the rounds I tested in this Less Lethal Pistol, with an energy rating of only 7 Joules. Based on energy alone I would suggest using the All Rubber Balls as they achieved the highest energy rating at 15 Joules, even higher than claimed by Umarex.

Now that we understand that the 8 gram All Steel .50 Caliber All Steel Balls are not only the lowest velocity by a long shot, they also have the lowest energy rating again by a lot as compared to the other rounds tested. Maybe when I compare the accuracy during my target Test the .50 Caliber All Reel Rounds may redeem themselves. After Shooting 5 of the 8 Gram All Steel Rounds into my Paper Target from a distance of 30 feet, I did actually get the tightest grouping, even with a heavily fading CO2 that was near it’s end, so velocity did taper off making the shots shoot lower and lower with each shot. I did throw the final 5th shot out as I could literally see it loft to the target but even with the low CO2 and inconsistent velocity, I got my best grouping from the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol with a 3 inch grouping just slightly to the left of the bullseye but very close.

I was not surprised with the performance of the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol using the 8 gram All Steel Balls for this third Field Test. Velocity was much lower as expected than the other lighter rounds tested, but most surprising, the energy was around half of the All Rubber Balls. Perhaps the metal rounds just did not reach their maximum speed in such a short barrel due to them being a so much heavier weight? My conclusion on Ammo choice for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol would be to go with either the All Rubber Balls or the Rubber Steel Balls. The All Rubber Balls by far had the highest velocity and energy rating but I did feel like the Rubber Steel Balls even though they where moving slower and had slightly less energy, seemed to hit the target with the most force based on the sound I was hearing while performing the testing. Either round will for sure make an intruder think twice about continuing their course of bad behavior. I will probably do some testing on how each of these rounds effects different targets in the future, I just need to figure out what I want to shoot at…
