Hey everyone, Michael here with another field test video! Today, we are putting the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Full Blowback BB Pistol through its paces in the indoor shooting range. If you're looking for the nitty-gritty details, specifications, and close-up angles, be sure to check out my dedicated Table Top video. For this session, we are strictly focused on performance: seeing how this realistic blowback replica handles when we actually put some rounds downrange. While this specific model does include the MOS plates for mounting a red dot, I decided to stick with the standard white-dot open iron sights for today's target testing.

Chronograph and Velocity Testing

Starting things off with the chrony test, I popped in a brand new CO2 cartridge to see what kind of speed we could get out of this Glock. Generally, with a heavy, fast-cycling blowback system like this one, I expect velocities to hover right around the 300 FPS mark. Let's see how the Gen 5 performed:

• Shot 1: 296 FPS

• Shot 2: 260 FPS

• Shot 3: 256 FPS

• Shot 4: 285 FPS

• Shot 5: 257 FPS

• Shot 6: 283 FPS

As you can see, the numbers jumped around a fair bit, and we stayed just shy of that 300 FPS threshold. This isn't super surprising, when you have a really stiff, snappy slide spring eating up that CO2 to cycle the blowback action, you're usually trading off a little bit of velocity and consistency to get that realistic recoil feel.

Accuracy Downrange at 30 Feet

Next up, I stepped back to my standard 30-foot mark to see what kind of grouping the Glock 17 could pull off on a fresh paper target. I did actually loaded 10 BBs for this string, which means the slide did lock back on the final shot since the magazine wasn't fully topped up to capacity.

Shooting the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Full Blowback BB Pistol is an absolute blast. The trigger is fantastic, it has a failry light, short pull that perfectly replicates that classic Glock single-action feel. By holding my aim dead center, or maybe just a hair under the bullseye, the end result was a just over 2 inch grouping fairly well centered left to right, but a bit low on the bullseye. It's definitely more than accurate enough for practical, fast-paced action shooting.

Shooting Feel and MOS Features

The physical shooting experience is really where this Umarex replica shines. The slide action is incredibly crisp and fast, giving you a surprisingly snappy kick that feels highly authentic in the hand.

One huge bonus for this Gen 5 model is the Modular Optic System (MOS) design. Even though I rolled with the iron sights today, you have all the included plates needed to drop a micro red dot on top if that's your preference. Combining that optics readiness with a trigger that lets you rip off quick follow-up shots without pulling your muzzle off-target makes this an absolute joy to shoot.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Full Blowback BB Pistol is a top-tier training option. If you own the real steel 9mm version, this 1:1 BB replica is a no-brainer for running speed reloads, practicing your draw, and doing target transitions in the comfort of your own garage or backyard. You're saving a ton of money on ammo while getting some highly effective muscle memory practice. It might not win any awards for sheer FPS or sniper-level target accuracy, but as a realistic action plinker and trainer, it absolutely hits the mark.

Welcome back for another field test! Today I am taking the Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine 1999 out to the range to see what it can do. If you want a deep dive into the specifications, materials, and a close-up look at the hardware, make sure to watch our dedicated Table Top Review. For this video, however, I am focusing entirely on how this lever-action BB rifle performs when putting steel to paper.

Velocity and Chronograph Performance

To get a baseline for power and consistency, I ran a string of shots through the chronograph. The manufacturer claims velocities in the 300+ FPS range. Here is how the Daisy handled right out of the box:

• Shot 1: 291 FPS

• Shot 2: 286 FPS

• Shot 3: 285 FPS

• Shot 4: 284 FPS

• Shot 5: 283 FPS

The consistency on this carbine is outstanding. After a slightly higher first shot, it locked right into the high 280s and low 290s and stayed remarkably steady throughout the test string with an average fps of 286.

One quirk to watch out for during operation is the loading system. While cocking the lever, you might occasionally get a "dud" or mis-feed where a BB fails to chamber properly. If this happens, you simply need to (while pointing the barrel up) give the Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine 1999 a quick shake to position the ammo and rack the lever again.

Downrange Accuracy at 30 Feet

Moving on to the accuracy portion of the review, I set up a fresh paper target exactly 30 feet downrange.

• Target Testing: I fired 10 carefully aimed shots. The gun delivered an excellent grouping of about 1.5 inches. The cluster was perfectly centered left-to-right, meaning the windage was completely dialed in straight out of the box which is great since there are no windage adjustments to speak of. It did shoot slightly high on the elevation, but compensating for this is simply a matter of aiming just underneath the bullseye or tweaking your optics if you mounted a red dot or optical sight.

Handling Notes and Optics Fitment

This is an incredibly fun lever-action plinker. One of the best design choices on this specific Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine 1999 model is the modernized, bigger loop on the lever, which makes it much more comfortable for shooters with larger hands to cycle the action or if wearing gloves.

You will also find a major upgrade on the top of the receiver. This version features a Picatinny rail, making it extremely easy to mount optics. I actually used the built in open sights rather than installing a red dot sight during this specific accuracy test, and the iron open sights worked very well for me. If you prefer iron sights, the rear sight remains fully adjustable for elevation but not windage.

Final Thoughts

The Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine 1999 is a rugged, highly affordable BB gun that backs up its classic lever-action fun with rock-solid consistency and great accuracy on the range. It is incredibly cheap to shoot, making it the perfect backyard plinker for knocking over pop cans or army men. Just remember to always wear your eye protection!

Today, we’re putting the Umarex P2P Secure 68P .68 Caliber Less Lethal Pistol to the test to see what kind of penetration and impact power it can deliver against a variety of real-world materials.

We already ran this pistol through our standard field and chronograph testing. Shooting a 3-gram .68 caliber nylon round, we clocked it right around 330 FPS (against the claimed 350 FPS rating), which places its output somewhere in that solid 15 to 19 Joules range. While it doesn't pack the massive 30-Joule punch of the larger T4E T68/TC68 rifle platform, it is significantly more compact, lightweight, and easy to handle.

Let’s see what happens when the P2P Secure 68P goes up against three different target surfaces: 3-ply construction plywood, a galvanized steel trash can lid, and a heavy-duty plastic bucket lid.

Target 1: The 3-Ply Plywood Test

We kicked things off with standard 3-ply plywood to test structural penetration.

• Shot 1 & 2: Firing a couple of quick rounds downrange, the nylon projectiles hit with high velocity and bounced right back. Both shots left clear, prominent surface impact marks and slight indentations on the wood face.

• The Verdict: Unlike the full-size T68 rifle—which punched clean through the board—the Secure 68P did not penetrate the 3-ply plywood. That said, it transferred a lot of kinetic energy onto the surface, leaving visible damage right where the rounds struck.

Target 2: The Galvanized Steel Challenge

Next up was the heavy-duty galvanized steel trash can lid. Steel is notoriously unforgiving, but it provides a great gauge of raw kinetic impact.

• The Impact: Firing a couple of rounds directly at the lower/center area of the lid resulted in loud, crisp strikes.

• The Verdict: The pistol put solid, noticeable dings and dents right into the steel. While it obviously won't punch clean through galvanized sheet metal like a rifle platform, you can see the sheer kinetic force behind these .68 caliber nylon balls.

Target 3: The Plastic Bucket Lid

For our final barrier test, we taped up a standard plastic bucket lid to see how the pistol interacts with a slightly more flexible polymer target.

• The Shots: We put a couple of rounds into the plastic lid, with one shot striking slightly higher near the reinforced rim and a follow-up round hitting cleanly in the center target area.

• The Verdict: While the rounds didn't punch clean through on the first couple of tries, the direct hit left a very deep, prominent divot stretched deep into the plastic. With a few concentrated shots in the same zone, it has more than enough energy to breach standard plastic containers.

Less-Lethal Defense & Deterrent Capability

The Umarex P2P Secure 68P continues to impress as a serious, compact less-lethal option designed for personal defense and deterrence. In this field test review, I put this .68 caliber less-lethal launcher through its paces in our indoor range to test real-world velocity, energy output, and target accuracy under typical room-temperature conditions (around 20°C / 68°F). Chronograph & Power Test

For the velocity test, I loaded up 3-gram nylon .68 caliber rounds powered by a fresh 12g CO2 cartridge. Out of the box, the Secure 68P claims a velocity of approximately 350 FPS and around 19 Joules of muzzle energy.

Shooting a full 6-round magazine through the chronograph produced very consistent readings across the board:

• Shot 1: 336 FPS

• Shot 2: 320 FPS

• Shot 3: 326 FPS

• Shot 4: 315 FPS

• Shot 5: 314 FPS

• Shot 6: 332 FPS

The velocity held together surprisingly well across the entire magazine with minimal drop-off. Taking our top speed reading of 336 FPS with 3-gram rounds, the P2P Secure 68P generates a maximum muzzle energy output well above 15 Joules (getting reasonably close to the claimed 19 Joules), which delivers plenty of impact energy for a compact CO2-powered launcher.

Accuracy Testing

Moving on to accuracy, I set up a paper target downrange at 30 feet and fired six rounds using the same CO2 cylinder.

Because .68 caliber nylon rounds and paintball-style projectiles lack the precision aerodynamics of steel BBs or lead pellets, they naturally tend to wander slightly. However, placing my sights right underneath the bullseye yielded an impressive 5-inch grouping for all six shots.

The elevation for the Umarex P2P Secure 68P was nearly spot-on straight out of the box at 30 feet, delivering consistent, centralized placement on the target.

Practical Takeaways & Performance

• Trigger Pull: The trigger is on the heavier and longer side, particularly on the initial pull as it punctures the CO2 cartridge. While a heavy trigger requires controlled pressure during slow target practice, it serves as a practical safety feature to prevent accidental discharges in high-stress situations.

• Less-Lethal Deterrent: The combination of strong velocity, 3g round density, and compact form factor makes this launcher an effective, highly portable less-lethal option.

Magazine & Loading System Loading the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS BB Pistol is straightforward. It utilizes a heavy, full-size drop-out magazine that holds 17 rounds of 4.5mm steel BBs. The magazine follower can be pulled down and easily locked in place with a quick flick, making loading incredibly fast. Unlike partial blowback models where the magazine pulls forward to seal the breech, this model utilizes a traditional Airsoft-style follower-fed system where the slide simply strips the BB and loads it directly into the breech. While this design is less CO2 efficient and results in slightly less power, it is essential for delivering that complete, highly realistic full blowback action.

Handling & Controls True to the Glock platform, the handling on this replica is extremely authentic. Magazine & Loading System Loading this pistol is a unique process. It features a built-in 18-shot internal reservoir for 4.5mm steel BBs. To fire, the rear section of the slide is pulled back to activate the spring piston. Pushing the top portion forward opens the breech in a break-barrel fashion, allowing access to the loading bay. When using BBs, they drop in from the internal reservoir. If you are shooting pellets or darts, you will load them one at a time directly into the breech. An included rubber speed-loader accessory lets you easily drop BBs into the reservoir by simply pinching it, a convenient feature that saves loading time.

Handling & Controls Operating this spring piston pistol requires manual cocking before every shot. The slide is used to cock the internal spring, and the trigger features a skeletonized design within a built-in fairly heavy trigger guard. The trigger pull is decent but requires a deliberate press. The cross-bolt safety effectively locks the trigger, ensuring that the pistol cannot be fired once cocked and loaded until you have disengaged it. (Mine did have an issue)

Handling & Controls

Operating this less-lethal device is straightforward and geared toward high-stress scenarios. Everything centers around the full-metal drop-out magazine, which houses your six rounds of .68 caliber ammunition. The 12-gram CO2 cartridge sites right under the barrel built into the slide loaded from the front (by the way the Magazine doubles as the CO2 tightening tool). Because the gun relies entirely on a double-action trigger and lacks a blowback feature, 100% of the CO2 pressure is channeled directly into launching the heavy projectiles making it worth the slightly heavier trigger pull.

The trigger pull itself is relatively smooth, though you will definitely notice a heavier initial pull on that very first shot once the CO2 is pierced. For added utility, there is a standard Picatinny rail located beneath the muzzle, making it incredibly easy to attach a tactical flashlight or laser to help you navigate dark areas.

Gear Stock Copper-Coated BBs

First out of the box, we have some Gear Stock copper-coated steel BBs. I typically prefer using zinc-alloy BBs, but I haven't used this specific brand specifically. I’m eager to run these through a few tests to see how they perform and whether they may corrode long term leave any black residue in the barrel or on the gun.

Umarex P2P Secure 68P Impact Defense Kit

Next up is the Umarex Prepare to Protect (P2P) Secure 68P, a .68 caliber less-lethal impact defense kit. Right off the bat, the packaging screams quality, it comes in a really nice, durable nylon soft case.

Inside, you get a great variety of ammunition to load into its 6 round metal magazine:

• 6 glass breaker impact rounds

• 6 powder practice rounds

• 6 rubber impact rounds

The pistol itself features a double-action trigger, runs on 12g CO2 (which they thoughtfully include in the kit), and fires at a velocity of around 350 FPS. It has a great weight and feel to it, and I'm looking forward to getting this on the chronograph.

Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine (Model 1999)

Finally, we have something that’s just pure fun: the Daisy Woodland Trail Western Carbine 1999. It's a classic lever-action BB rifle but with a modern, outdoorsy twist.

Instead of the traditional wood look, this model features a really cool green stock with a matching trigger. It also brings some nice upgrades to the table, including a Picatinny rail for mounting a red dot or optical scope, a fiber optic front sight, and an adjustable rear sight for elevation. It holds a massive 650 BBs and shoots right around 350 FPS. I haven’t shot one of these green stock versions yet, and I already know it's going to be a blast for backyard plinking.

Today we are staying dry inside out of the rain and stepping into the indoor range for a practical field test and penetration review of the Umarex T4E TP50 Less Lethal Pistol. If you are looking for a legal and unregulated deterrent for home defense that packs a surprising punch, you’ll want to see how this .50 caliber paintball-style pistol performs straight out of the box.

The Test Setup

For this test, we are keeping the TP50 entirely stock. There are no valve modifications or aftermarket upgrades here, this is exactly what you get when you open the box.

We are shooting from a distance of approximately 30 feet. Here are the specs on the ammunition and power for today's test:

• Ammunition: .50 caliber rubber balls with a steel core. These are slightly less dense than nylon but heavier than standard rubber due to the steel center. (Just under 3 grams)

• Power Output: Pushing roughly 12 to 13 Joules.

• Velocity: Traveling at just over 300 feet per second (fps).

First up was the 3-ply wood. Given the velocity and the dense nature of the target, I wasn't expecting the Umarex T4E TP50 Less Lethal Pistol to blow right through the wood.

After putting a couple of rounds downrange, the results were impressive. While it didn't fully penetrate the 3-ply, it hit with a resounding smack and left significant, visible damage on the surface. Honestly, this gun shoots much hotter than I remembered. It is absolutely no slouch.

Target 2: The Galvanized Steel Garbage Can Lid

second up, I aimed at the galvanized steel garbage can lid. Going into this stage, I expected the .50 caliber round to simply smack the surface and fall straight to the ground without penetrating, which is exactly what happened.

However, even though it didn't punch a hole through the metal, the sheer force of the impact was undeniable. The round hit the steel hard, proving that even against dense, unforgiving surfaces, the TP50 is pumping out some serious kinetic energy.

Target 3: The Plastic Barrel Lids

Next, we moved on to the plastic barrel lids. I expected the TP50 to punch through a single lid, so we taped two of them together to see how far it could push.

This is where the Umarex T4E TP50 Less Lethal Pistol really showed its teeth. When I fired, the recoil actually threw my hand back, this gun has genuine kick to it, especially when firing these heavier steel-core rounds.

It does seem to shoot a bit on the high side at 30 feet, so I ended up hitting the target near the top edge. Even so, the steel-core rubber ball blew cleanly through the first plastic lid and struck the second. That level of penetration from a stock, 12-Joule less-lethal pistol is incredibly impressive.

Final Thoughts

The Umarex T4E TP50 is a powerhouse for an out-of-the-box, unregulated less-lethal pistol. While it's designed as a deterrent rather than a lethal option, the 12 to 13 Joules of energy paired with steel-core rubber balls provides more than enough kick to send a very clear message to anyone who shouldn't be up to no good and on your property.

Today, since it’s raining outside, we are back in the Sea Can Indoor Airgun Shooting Range running a practical indoor field and penetration test on a true heavy hitter from Umarex's T4E lineup: the TC68 (.68 caliber) less-lethal paintball rifle.

If you haven't seen the tabletop video covering the exterior and specs of this rifle, make sure to check that out first. Today is all about seeing what happens when high-velocity nylon meets plywood and steel.

The Setup & Modifications

For this test, we are shooting solid nylon balls that weigh just under 3 grams. However, we are not running this rifle stock.

I’ve slightly modified this TC68 by adjusting the internal velocity valve. By turning that valve further in with a headless Allen key, the gun delivers a larger burst of CO2 per shot. Instead of the stock 15 Joules, this simple screw adjustment pushes the rifle closer to 30 Joules of kinetic energy.

Even with that massive power increase, the nylon balls are traveling at roughly 460 feet per second (fps). Because it stays under the 500 fps threshold, this modified setup remains completely legal here in Canada without requiring a specialized firearms license.

A Quick Note on CO2 Performance: It is worth mentioning that the dual 12 gram CO2 cartridge setup used during this specific test were not brand new, which likely affected the power output to some degree. Because of this, I am planning on making a similar penetration test video in the future using a brand new 88-gram CO2 cylinder, which I believe will perform significantly better and yield even higher kinetic energy transfer.

The Penetration Test

To see what nearly 30 Joules of .68 caliber impact looks like, we set up three different targets.

Target 1: 3-Ply Plywood

• I fired a few rounds straight into 3-ply plywood.

• The high-velocity nylon balls went right through the wood with zero hesitation, even punching through the knots.

• While the velocity naturally dipped slightly after the first couple of shots as the CO2 cooled, the penetration power on those initial shots was absolute.

Target 2: Heavy Galvanized Steel

• Next, we tested the rifle against heavy galvanized steel, specifically, a thick garbage can lid.

• The nylon balls did not penetrate the steel, which is completely expected for a less-lethal platform, but maybe fresh CO2 would have made a difference?

• However, the impact was incredibly loud and left massive, deep dings in the metal.

Target 3: The Double-Smash Test

• For the final test, we set up a stacked, double-layered plastic bucket lid target.

• The TC68 smashed straight through the setup, putting a clean hole right through all layers.

Practical Application & Safety Notes

One of the best features of the Umarex T4E TC68 Less Lethal Paintball Rifle is the quick-pierce CO2 system located in the buttstock. You can load your CO2 and keep it unpierced until the exact moment you need it, ensuring your seals don’t wear out while it sits in the closet. However, be careful, I accidentally pierced my CO2 before the test just by resting the buttstock too hard on the ground!

Ultimately, this is a fantastic tool for home defense. If you ever have individuals trespassing or causing trouble, the intent with this rifle is not to kill, it is strictly less-lethal. The goal is to motivate them to leave your property immediately. Having a less-lethal option like this also provides a much more defensible position should a situation ever go to court.

Welcome back for another field test! Today I am taking the E&L AKN 75 AEG Airsoft Rifle out to the range to see what it can do. If you want a deep dive into the specifications, materials, and a close-up look at the hardware, make sure to watch our dedicated Table Top Review. For this video, however, I am focusing entirely on how this rifle performs when putting plastic to paper.

Velocity and Chronograph Performance

To get a baseline for power and consistency, I ran a string of shots through the chronograph using standard 0.25g Airsoft BBs. Here is how the E&L handled right out of the box:

• Shot 1: 360 FPS

• Shot 2: 358 FPS

• Shot 3: 358 FPS

• Shot 4: 358 FPS

• Shot 5: 358 FPS

The consistency on this AEG is outstanding. After a slightly higher first shot, it locked exactly onto 358 FPS for the remainder of the test string.

One major surprise during the chrono test was the trigger system. Out of the box, the E&L AKN 75 AEG Airsoft Rifle operates with a binary-style double trigger, meaning it fires a round when you pull the trigger, and a second round when you release it. This feature makes it incredibly easy to rattle off rapid, successive shots even while staying in semi-automatic mode.

Downrange Accuracy at 30 Feet

Moving on to the accuracy portion of the review, I set up a fresh paper target exactly 30 feet downrange.

• Semi-Automatic Testing: I fired 10 carefully aimed shots in semi-auto mode. The gun delivered an excellent 1.5-inch grouping. The cluster was perfectly centered left-to-right but landed slightly low on the paper. Because the rear sight was dialed down to its lowest notch, fixing this would simply be a matter of bumping up the sight elevation rather than adjusting the hop-up.

• Full-Automatic Testing: I flipped the selector switch and dumped the rest of the magazine. The rifle chugged right along with a distinct, heavy sound, effortlessly shredding the target without skipping a beat.

Build Notes and Battery Fitment

This is an incredibly authentic-feeling replica. The combination of the real wood front handguard and the stamped steel folding rear stock gives the gun a fantastic, realistic weight.

However, you will need to be mindful of your battery choices. The battery compartment underneath the top dust cover is extremely tight and requires a specific, small nunchuck-style battery to close properly. For the purpose of getting this test done, I actually left the dust cover off of the E&L AKN 75 AEG Airsoft Rifle to fit the battery we had on hand. It doesn't affect performance, but it's something to keep in mind when purchasing accessories.

Final Thoughts

The E&L AKN 75 is a rugged, beautiful AEG that backs up its authentic looks with rock-solid consistency and great accuracy on the range.

Chronograph Testing

To establish a solid baseline for velocity and consistency, we tested the G&G PCC45 Pro using 0.25g Airsoft BBs. We put a string of rounds through the chronograph to see how it handles out of the box, and the results were impressively uniform:

• Shot 1: 334 FPS

• Shot 2: 334 FPS

• Shot 3: 337 FPS

• Shot 4: 335 FPS

• Shot 5: 334 FPS

Chronograph Verdict

The G&G PCC45 Pro demonstrated excellent consistency, hovering beautifully in the mid-330s with a tight 3 FPS variance across most shots. Averaging right around 335 FPS, this translates to very stable and predictable performance on the field. Keep in mind that because we conducted this test with slightly heavier 0.25g BBs for improved stability, you can expect the velocity to scale up perfectly to standard CQB-friendly limits if you switch to lighter 0.20g rounds.

Accuracy Testing

Moving over to the accuracy portion of our evaluation, we set up a fresh paper target downrange at our standard distance of 30 feet.

• Semi-Automatic Accuracy (10-Shot Group):

  Firing a 10-shot string in semi-automatic mode, the PCC45 Pro delivered a stellar performance. Getting a clear look downrange can be a bit tricky depending on your choice of eyewear, but dialing into the rear peep sight revealed that this rifle is a laser. Out of the box, the 10-shot string punched a remarkably tight 1-inch grouping right near the center. It leaned just a tiny bit low and slightly to the left of the absolute bullseye, but for an unmodified out-of-the-box rifle, that is an incredibly impressive group.

• Full-Automatic Accuracy (Burst Test):

  Switching the selector over to full-automatic "fun mode", we held down the trigger to unleash a heavy, continuous burst to see how much the spread would open up. The spring-fed magazine fed flawlessly, unloading what was left of the mag—likely a solid 90+ rounds, until the mechanical tone changed, signaling we were completely dry. Even under a heavy mag dump, the full-auto spread opened up to just over 2 inches. It chewed a massive, definitive hole right through the paper target, keeping the vast majority of the BBs tightly localized.

Sighting & Ergonomics Note

The built-in iron sights of the G&G PCC45 Pro AEG Airsoft Rifle perform great, featuring a nice, crisp rear peep sight. If you find your shots landing slightly off-center out of the box, the sights are fully adjustable; the rear sight handles windage adjustments (left/right) while the front sight can be moved up or down for elevation adjustments. That said, given the seamless top rail space, adding a premium red dot sight would make a fantastic addition to perfect your sight picture on this platform.

On a quick battery note, managing battery placement on some of these compact platforms can occasionally be a bit tricky out on the range, sometimes requiring a bit of trial and error with different form factors, like nunchuck-style packs, to find the perfect fit inside the tight compartments.

We tested the G&G L85 Carbine using 0.25g Airsoft BBs, which are slightly heavier than standard 0.20g ammunition. We put five rounds through the chronograph to establish an average velocity:

• Shot 1: 329 FPS

• Shot 2: 329 FPS

• Shot 3: 328 FPS

• Shot 4: 327 FPS

• Shot 5: 328 FPS

• Shot 6: 328 FPS

Chronograph Verdict

The G&G L85 Carbine AEG Airsoft Rifle demonstrated outstanding consistency, hovering reliably between 327 and 329 FPS averaging 328 FPS. Because we utilized heavier 0.25g BBs for this benchmark, you can expect this rifle to comfortably shoot right around the 360 FPS mark when using standard 0.20g rounds.

This velocity output sits perfectly within Canada’s import requirements, which require a baseline velocity over 366 FPS. It provides an optimal balance for close-quarters battle (CQB) environments while retaining enough power to remain viable for mid-range outdoor field skirmishes.

Accuracy Testing

Moving over to the accuracy portion of our evaluation, we set up a fresh paper target downrange at a distance of 30 feet.

Semi-Automatic Accuracy (10-Shot Group)

Firing a 10-shot string in semi-automatic mode, the G&G L85 Carbine produced a tight, highly respectable 1.5 to 2-inch grouping. The grouping bias leaned slightly high and a bit to the left of the center bullseye, but the consistency from shot to shot was remarkably uniform.

Full-Automatic Accuracy (Burst Test)

Switching over to full-automatic, we aimed slightly low on the paper target and held down the trigger to run through a heavy burst of approximately 50 to 70 rounds until the spring drive ran clear.

Despite a couple of skipped cycles due to the mid-cap magazine running low on ammunition toward the end of the burst, the rifle punched a solid, definitive hole right through the target. The overall full-auto spread expanded slightly but stayed locked within a very consistent 3 to 4-inch grouping.

Operating Impressions

The mechanical performance of the G&G L85 Carbine leaves a distinct impression:

• Rate of Fire: Powered by an 11.1V 3-cell LiPo battery, the rate of fire is snappy and crisp, delivering exactly the kind of aggressive output you want from a high-quality AEG.

• Tactile Feedback: While it doesn't feature a true hard-kicking blowback system, the internal cycling produces a noticeable "shoulder tap" sensation, offering a bit more mechanical feedback than a standard, sterile AEG platform.

• Acoustics: It is worth noting that this is a relatively loud rifle. The gearbox and motor produce a distinct, metallic rattle with every cycle. It sounds robust and mechanical, but it is certainly not a weapon designed for stealth operations.

• Trigger Pull: As an electric switch trigger typical of premium AEGs, the break is highly responsive with virtually no take-up, allowing for quick follow-up shots in semi-auto mode.

Final Thoughts & Availability

Chronograph Testing

For this test, we utilized heavier 0.25g Airsoft BBs rather than standard 0.20g rounds.

• Shot 1: 363 FPS

• Shot 2: 362 FPS

• Shot 3: 363 FPS

• Shot 4: 363 FPS

• Shot 5: 362 FPS

Chronograph Verdict

The velocity consistency on this rifle is incredibly impressive, varying by only a single foot per second across consecutive shots. While 0.25g BBs clocked in around the 362–363 FPS mark, switching to standard 0.20g BBs will easily push this rifle well into the 400 FPS range.

Note on Compliance: The legal limit for an airsoft gun to be imported into Canada requires it to exceed 366 FPS with a 0.20g BB. Because this rifle clears that floor easily with heavier ammunition, it comfortably complies with Canadian import guidelines.

(Note: The SA-E04 includes an optional, lighter replacement spring in the box if you need to lower the velocity for local indoor CQB field limits).

Accuracy Testing

We set up a paper target at a distance of 30 feet to observe grouping behavior under a controlled, seated position.

Semi-Automatic Accuracy (10-Shot Group)

The initial 10-shot semi-automatic string produced a very respectable 1.5-inch grouping. The Specna Arms SA-E04 AR15 AEG grouped tightly and predictably, making it more than capable for indoor CQB fields or mid-range outdoor skirmishes.

Full-Automatic Accuracy (Burst Test)

Switching over to full-automatic, we sent a heavy volume of fire downrange (approx. 50 to 70 rounds). The mechanical grouping stayed reasonably tight at roughly 2 inches, though the placement shifted vertically.

Sight Alignment & Out-of-the-Box Adjustments

During the shooting test, the rifle consistently grouped low relative to the center mass of the target, striking about 8 to 9 inches below the point of aim.

How to Correct It

Because the Specna Arms SA-E04 AR15 AEG shoots low out of the box, the iron sights require basic mechanical adjustment:

• To raise the point of impact, you must lower the front sight post.

• Lowering the front sight forces you to naturally elevate the barrel when aligning your sight picture, bringing the actual point of impact up to match your point of aim.

Alternatively, the top Picatinny rail makes it incredibly easy to bypass the stock iron sights entirely by mounting a red dot or optical sight.

Final Thoughts & Availability

For a bare-bones, budget-friendly Airsoft rifle, the Specna Arms SA-E04 is a durable, lightweight, and remarkably consistent performer. It offers out-of-the-box velocity stability that rivals much more expensive options, making it an excellent platform to build on.

The Steambow B08 .68 Caliber Tactical Crossbow offers a unique and entertaining option for target shooting. In this field test review, I tested the Steambow B08, a .68 caliber launcher that is designed to shoot paintballs, rubber balls, or foam balls. I wanted to test this 35-pound bow to see how it performs in terms of velocity and real-world accuracy at 30 feet downrange.

For ammunition, I tested two different types of projectiles: black rubber balls and soft yellow foam balls. These projectiles are very light, which means firing them feels almost like you are dry-firing the bow all the time. However, using them makes for a cheap way to have some fun plinking around, and you can easily collect and reuse the ammo.

Velocity testing through the chronograph produced some incredibly consistent, albeit unusual, numbers. I fired six shots in total, using three rubber balls followed by three foam balls. The Steambow B08 delivered readings of exactly 129 FPS for all six shots. Seeing six duplicate velocity readings in a row across two different types of ammo is something I don't think I've ever seen before! This suggests that the projectile weight is less important here, as the bow string only moves so fast. For those looking to get more energy downrange, you will definitely want to use heavier projectiles, like a steel ball, and swap out for a heavier limb. (The Steambow B08 comes with a 35 pound limb for reference).

Accuracy testing was performed from 30 feet downrange on a fresh paper target. I loaded the eight-round magazine with four black rubber balls and four soft foam balls. The Steambow B08 .68 Caliber Tactical Crossbow was hitting quite low at this 30-foot distance, forcing me to aim up at the top of the target just to get the shots on paper. The grouping was somewhat scattered all over the place, indicating that this is a launcher you probably want to be working with a little closer in, at around 20 feet would be better in terms of accuracy. Aiming is done using a built-in little green dot at the front, but there is no real sight adjustment to dial it in or change it. Optimally I would sugest putting a simple red dot sight on the picatinny rail.

Overall, the 35-pound Steambow B08 is built primarily for target shooting and is a great way to have fun with your buddies outside or even inside a garage. I definitely wouldn't want to shoot this for pest control unless you plan to upgrade to a heavier limb and denser ammo. For anyone looking for a cheap, fun plinker with reusable ammo, this launcher is a very entertaining choice.
