Hey everyone, Michael here with another field test video! Today, we are putting the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Full Blowback BB Pistol through its paces in the indoor shooting range. For this session, we are strictly focused on performance: seeing how this realistic blowback replica handles when we actually put some rounds downrange. While this specific model does include the MOS plates for mounting a red dot, I decided to stick with the standard white-dot open iron sights for today's target testing.

Chronograph and Velocity Testing

Starting things off with the chrony test, I popped in a brand new CO2 cartridge to see what kind of speed we could get out of this Glock. Generally, with a heavy, fast-cycling blowback system like this one, I expect velocities to hover right around the 300 FPS mark. Let's see how the Gen 5 performed:

• Shot 1: 296 FPS

• Shot 2: 260 FPS

• Shot 3: 256 FPS

• Shot 4: 285 FPS

• Shot 5: 257 FPS

• Shot 6: 283 FPS

As you can see, the numbers jumped around a fair bit, and we stayed just shy of that 300 FPS threshold. This isn't super surprising, when you have a really stiff, snappy slide spring eating up that CO2 to cycle the blowback action, you're usually trading off a little bit of velocity and consistency to get that realistic recoil feel.

Accuracy Downrange at 30 Feet

Next up, I stepped back to my standard 30-foot mark to see what kind of grouping the Glock 17 could pull off on a fresh paper target. I did actually loaded 10 BBs for this string, which means the slide did lock back on the final shot since the magazine wasn't fully topped up to capacity.

Shooting the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Full Blowback BB Pistol is an absolute blast. The trigger is fantastic, it has a failry light, short pull that perfectly replicates that classic Glock single-action feel. By holding my aim dead center, or maybe just a hair under the bullseye, the end result was a just over 2 inch grouping fairly well centered left to right, but a bit low on the bullseye. It's definitely more than accurate enough for practical, fast-paced action shooting.

Shooting Feel and MOS Features

The physical shooting experience is really where this Umarex replica shines. The slide action is incredibly crisp and fast, giving you a surprisingly snappy kick that feels highly authentic in the hand.

One huge bonus for this Gen 5 model is the Modular Optic System (MOS) design. Even though I rolled with the iron sights today, you have all the included plates needed to drop a micro red dot on top if that's your preference. Combining that optics readiness with a trigger that lets you rip off quick follow-up shots without pulling your muzzle off-target makes this an absolute joy to shoot.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Full Blowback BB Pistol is a top-tier training option. If you own the real steel 9mm version, this 1:1 BB replica is a no-brainer for running speed reloads, practicing your draw, and doing target transitions in the comfort of your own garage or backyard. You're saving a ton of money on ammo while getting some highly effective muscle memory practice. It might not win any awards for sheer FPS or sniper-level target accuracy, but as a realistic action plinker and trainer, it absolutely hits the mark.

The Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol is a looker for sure replicating the look of a Glock 17 Gen 5 which includes Umarex Glock licensing, lots of metal parts and solid blowback action. That’s all great but does it shoot good? In this Filed Test Shooting video for the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol I put it through its paces using my Chronograph to find out the real world velocity and I also place 10 shots on a paper target to see what kind of accuracy we can get from 30 feet away.

Starting with my power or velocity test I put 5 rounds through my Chronograph using lead pellets that where just over 7 gran. I was all using a brand new CO2 and the temperature being around 21 degrees Celsius or 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so not too hot or cold. Full disclaimer, I was having some feeding problems with the magazine at first but it did seem to sort itself out near the end of this review… All that said, I was able to get an average of 320 fps with my slowest shoot hitting 309 fps and my fastest shot hitting 327 fps, so pretty consistent overall.

I then moved on to my accuracy portion of the Field Test for the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol Luckily the pellet feeding and trigger seemed to work better for me during this portion of the test but the trigger pull was very unpredictable being super hard with some shots and rather easy for others. This is not ideal for getting a good accuracy result, but I did the best I could and surprisingly got around a 3 inch grouping with a very uncooperative trigger. My grouping did hit the target a little bit to the left but was well centered up and down.

I am not a fan of belt fed magazines over all even though Sig Sauer does seem to be able to pull them off better than anyone. Maybe Umarex needs to do a little bit more work here to get better trigger pull consistency and an overall lighter trigger pull. Maybe the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol needs a bit more break in time as it did seem to perform better near the end of my Field Test Review. I would also like to try adding some silicone lubrication ot the magazine as friction seems to be the enemy of belt fed magazines… I am not sure if the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 5 CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol is a big recommendation for me or not, but it is a really decent CO2 Airgun in many ways. In this Field Test Shooting Video I test out the Umarex T4E Glock 17 Gen5 CO2 .43 Cal. Paintball Pistol in the Indoor Replica Airguns Sea Can Shooting Range to find out what the real world velocity and accuracy is for it. I start off by putting 5 rounds through my Chronograph and average the fps, I then I setup a fresh paper target 30 feet down range and put (max amount in the magazine) 8 Paintball rounds into it to see how close of a grouping I can get. Starting with the Chronograph velocity test Umarex says you can expect around 350 - 400 fps which seems rather high to me based on my other Field Tests with similar .43 caliber Paintball Pistols. Perhaps this is using actual Paintballs whereas I was using rubber balls for my testing to reduce the mess in the Sea Can. I was able to average 300 fps using a brand new CO2 in what I would consider to be about a room temperature conditions which means in warmer situations I am sure we can get even higher than the 300 fps I hit on this day.

For the next portion of the Indoor Field Test I loaded 8 rounds into the Umarex T4E Glock 17 Gen5 CO2 .43 Cal. Paintball Pistol and carefully placed them into a paper target 30 feet down range. I was using my standard seated position in the back with my hands resting on a sand bag up front which I have found to be fairly stable but there will still be some human factor which can effect overall accuracy. My results where about what I was expecting with a Paintball Pistol shooting Rubber Balls, generally they will spread out a bit at 30 feet and in this Field Test my 8 shot group spread out to about 8 inches or so. They did seem to be well centered on the target as a group and if I was shooting at a human sized torso at that distance I would have hit it every time.

The Umarex T4E Glock 17 Gen5 CO2 .43 Cal. Paintball Pistol is another nice addition to the Umarex / T4E lineup up .43 Caliber Replica Paintball Pistols and if you are a Glock owner and want a Paintball Pistol to train with, then the Umarex T4E Glock 17 Gen5 CO2 .43 Cal. Paintball Pistol is about as good as you can get, the only other option would be to go with an Umarex Glock Airsoft or BB Pistol but at least we now have a bunch of options depending on your specific needs!
