Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Cybergun KWC Colt 1911 M45A1 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is what you would expect from a true single action 1911 styled pistol and typical to all the other KWC 1911's on the market. It has a short take up and then a nice light and crisp release. The working grip safety is a nice touch requiring your palm to be pressed against it for the trigger and hammer to operate..

Accuracy: At this point I have not shot the Cybergun KWC Colt 1911 M45A1 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, I imagine it should perform well considering it has adjustable spin-up or hop-up. According to the manufacturers claimed fps, we should get somewhere in the mid to high 300 fps range using .20 gram Plastic Airsoft BB's. I'll add this one to the list of airguns I need to field test review!

Build Quality: Most KWC built full blowback airguns are built pretty well with an almost all metal build and good overall fit but sometimes the finish can wear off a bit especially in the high points. The Cybergun KWC Colt 1911 M45A1 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol seems to have a bit heavier finish on it. I looks really good and seems to be holding up well.

Realism: The Cybergun KWC Colt 1911 M45A1 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is a close replica of the real steel Colt 1911 M45A1 in almost every way other than the fact that it shoot s6mm airsoft BB's rather than 45 auto bullets :) The only real notable cosmetic difference I saw was the rail having less notches in it. Other than that it is bang on including the layered grips.

Pros:

• All metal construction - Good weight and solid feeling gun.

• Nice heavy blowback action.

• Very Accurate 1911 M45A1 styled replica.

• True 1911 Single action trigger, excellent pull, very smooth and light.

• Accurate trigger design and working grip safety.

• Lots of tactical upgrades on this version (Tac style trigger and hammer, textured grips, ambidextrous safety, white dot sights, Rail for accessories)

• Love the desert tan color and layered grips.

Cons:

• Sacrifice fps and shots per CO2 because of the heavy blowback but worth it.

• Finish on the Cybergun and KWC guns can were off on the high points a bit but some people like the look.

• Comes with the orange tip (I took mine off).

Comments:

I have always been a big fan of the KWC line of full blowback airguns and this one is no exception.  It's kind of interesting that KWC does not seem to make there own blinded out versions of these guns and that a company like Cybergun is distributing them? They do look really great and this entire line with all the variations and new models will for sure keep selling these airguns. And they don't just come in Airsoft versions, I will also be taking a look at some similar 4.5mm Steel BB KWC made airguns shortly!

I have some new guns for everyone to checkout which is always good for everyone, especially me :)

In this update video I show you around three pistols one Arisoft Rifle. With the pistols we have a mixed bag of Pellet, steel BB and plastic Airsoft. I've already done Table Top Video Review for both the ASG CZ Scorpion VZ61 and the ASG B&T BT5 AEG 6mm Airsoft Guns so make sure to checkout both those videos.

What I hav not done so far is make a Filed Test Shooting video for either gun since this winter has been rather brutal here in BC Canada. Today I did manage to get outside and put some rounds through both the ASG CZ Scorpion VZ61 and the ASG B&T BT5 AEG 6mm Airsoft Guns so at least I can report back to everyone on how they performed for me. Sorry still no actual shooting video as my outside time was kind of limited due to it still being cold, we are even expecting some more snow tonight and over the next few days and it's March!

Getting back to my preliminary shooting testing, the ASG CZ Scorpion VZ61 only shot a slight bit higher then 250 but it was the more accurate of the two AEG Airsoft Guns getting close to a 1 inch 10 shot grouping using my standard 30 foot back semi rested shooting position. It did shoot a bit low but perhaps  a hop-up adjustment should fix that problem.

Next up I tested out the ASG B&T BT5 MP5 PDW Replica and it did have a little more power hitting closer to 300 fps but it was not as accurate as the CZ shooting a bit high and to the left with most shots within about 1.5 inches, still pretty decent from 30 feet back.

Overall both AEG Airsoft Guns where fun to shoot and when I did let them lose to shoot in full auto mode they performed as expected laying down a stream of Airsoft BB's till the mags where empty :)

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol is what you would expect form an AEG pistol as it is basically an on/off switch. Since the RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol is full auto only it is not easy to shoot a single shot, it can be done with a very short trigger pull but even then you get the occasional multiple shot. The RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol like the real steel original version is full auto only and that's what makes it so fun!

Accuracy: I did get a chance to take the RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol outside and put some rounds through my Chronograph and down range at a paper target. I averaged just under 340 fps using .20 gram 6mm Airsoft BB's which is about perfect for this compact machine pistol. I also placed about 10 rounds down range 30 feet back using my standard semi rested shooting position while trying to shoot in semi auto and got a pretty decent 1.5 to 2 inch grouping that was a little high but well centered left to right. Elevation could be adjusted using the hop-up.

Build Quality: The RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol is really one of the best made Airsoft guns I have seen in a while, all the metal parst are going to be real steel or aluminum, not your standard zinc alloy found in most airguns these days. The full upper is stamped steel along with the 90 round magazines, the lower is plastic with a few aluminum parts here and there. The fit and finish is also excellent!

Realism: The RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol is a replica of the Swedish made Interdynamic KG9 Open Bolt SMP, not the ntratec Tec-9 which was the American version of the KG9. For the most part the RWA Airsoft version is exact with the exception of the barrel shroud being slightly longer to accommodate the 7.4v LiPo batteries.

Pros:

• Lots of steel in this gun including full upper, barrel, pins and magazines.

• Very high quality build with a solid weight and excellent fit and finish.

• Fairly high rate full auto fire.

• Comes with battery and two magazines.

• Has almost perfect usable working rate of fire averaging around 340 fps with decent overall accuracy.

• Working cocking handle.

• Fully Licensed.

Cons:

• No blowback but there is some recoil feel from the heavy spring action.

• No semi auto mode, full auto only.

• Sights are not adjustable, can only use hop-up to adjust elevation.

• Limited on battery choices.

Comments:

The RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol is a really cool looking Airsoft gun, it is a bit larger than most hand guns but could still be used like one since it does not have a stock and can be used for similar shooting situations. The advantage is you have 90 rounds of full auto ammo at your disposal in a size format that is super compact and easy to manoeuvre. You also get some pretty decent power for longer range shooting and the accuracy out of the box at a variety of ranges is also really good. You could even use the RWA KG-9 AEG Airsoft Machine Pistol easily as a primary or even kick ass backup gun as it is super versatile.

This year at SHOT Show 2017 in Las Vegas, I found there wasn’t a lot of new Airgun products but as always there are some that stood out for me. If you want more info on each Airgun Company then make sure to watch my full interviews for this years SHOT Show 2017. So without prolonging this video any longer let’s get right into it…

Umarex Legends MP CO2 Full Auto German MP40 Replica Machine-gun:

What’s not to like about the Umarex Legends MP? It has lots of metal parts weighing in at 7.7 pounds, a 60 round steel BB magazine with a dual 12 gram CO2 system. You also get your choice of shooting either in semi auto or full auto at up to 400 fps. Personally the Umarex Legends MP was the most interesting Airgun at the show this year for me and I really think it is going to be a hit!

Umarex SA10 Blowback Pellet and BB CO2 Pistol:

Another interesting product from Umarex this year was the SA10, I am not really sure what it is exactly styled after, it’s more of a futuristic looking gun with slide venting and a thread barrel for adding a mock suppressor or compensator. What appealed to me most about the Umarex SA10 was the new magazine design that incorporates a full size drop out metal magazine with 4 rotary 8 round magazines that can be loaded with either pellets or BB’s. When you empty one 8 shot magazine you simply drop the entire mag out and swap your empty 8 shot rotary magazine for a full one. The SA10 has a nice weight of around 2 pounds and shoots up to 426 fps.

Sig Sauer ASP P320 CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol:

Sig Sauer introduced their new Sig Sauer ASP P320 CO2 Pellet Pistol this year that will be replacing the P250. Like the P250 the Sig P320 has a metal slide and polymer frame but instead of a double sided 16 shot rotary magazine, the Sig ASP P320 has a newly designed and very unique 30 round belt fed magazine. That’s nearly double the capacity without having to flip the magazine around part way through shooting. It’s great to see innovations like this happening in the airgun market.

Crosman Remington 1875 Shell Loading CO2 Pellet and BB Revolver:

Crosman introduced their own Single Action Old West Revolver this year in the form of the Remington 1875. Like the super popular Umarex Single Action Army Revolvers, the Remington 1875 is also shell loading and uses 12 gram CO2. You have the option of shooting either Pellets or BB’s out of its smooth bore barrel. I expect the Crosman Remington 1875 Shell Loading Revolver to be another popular Old West Airgun Revolver.

Crosman PSM45 Single Shot Spring Powered BB Pistol:

The Crosman PSM45 at first glance may not seem that interesting, after all it’s all plastic on the outside and only shoots about 200 fps! On the plus side it kind of looks like a Glock and we all know how hard it is to find airguns these days that resemble a Glock. I also like the fact that there is no need for any CO2, and most springers out there look like springers while the Crosman PSM45 looks like a real semi auto pistol. The PSM45 even has pretty decent weight to it since there are lots of internal metal parts and a full size drop out metal magazine which was a real surprise in such an entry level low cost pistol. If you’re looking for a fun inexpensive replica plinker than the Crosman PSM45 should fit the bill. On a side not the PSM45 would also make a really great low cost prop since the slide does work and it has that full size drop out magazine!

ASG Dan Wesson 715 2.5 and 4 inch Shell Loading CO2 Revolvers:

The ASG Dan Wesson Revolver has always been a popular choice, and then the Dan Wesson 715 came out improving on the design by adding extra weight and smoothing out the mechanics. How do you top that? Well by giving us some more options like barrel lengths. You now have your choice of a 2.5, 4 or 6 inch barrel for the Dan Wesson 715 and of course you will be able to buy your 715 pick in 4.5mm Steel BB, 6mm Plastic Airsoft or .177 Caliber Pellet ammunition versions. My personal choice may be the 4 inch Dan Wesson 715 since it has the addition of an integrated accessory rail machined into the outer barrel for lasers or tach lights.

Gletcher M1944 Mosin Nogant CO2 BB Rifle:

The Gletcher M1944 Mosin Nogant CO2 BB Rifle is not a new replica gun this year but it has been a hard one to get your hands on. In fact up until SHOT Show 2017 I had never seen one in person and so the Gletcher M1944 is new to me. I was very impressed with the quality of the Gletcher M1944 Mosin Nogant, it has a lot of metal parts including the swing out bayonet and even the simulated wood stock looks like real wood. I even had to take a second look and ask before confirming that the stock is in fact plastic on the Gletcher M1944 Mosin Nogant. I am looking forward to reviewing this rifle in the future when I do finally get one!

Of course there where other interesting products at SHOT Show 2017 this year but those are the products that stood out the most for me. Again make sure to watch my full interview videos to find out more about all the new products at this years SHOT Show.

Sorry there is no Interview this time with KWA but I did talk a lot with the KWA folks over at SHOT Show this year and I even got to test out their Laser Targeting System designed to be used with several specifi KWA guns by laser-ammo.com.

Unfortunately we don't carry the KWA brand in the replica Airguns store, a few models sneak in when being distriubted by another company like ASG in the case of the ASG MP9. I would love to carry KWA Airsoft Products in the future since they really do make very high quality Airsoft guns.

KWA has a great selection of Airsoft pistols and rifles in both Gas Blowback and AEG formats. The quality reminds me of the KJWors Airsoft guns we sell in the Replica Airguns Canada Store, you can really feel the quality when you pick them up and hold them for yourself.

Another SHOT Show 2017 interview video, this interview is with Bob Li from ASG (Action Sport Games), Bob shares with me some updates to the super popular Dan Wesson 715 along with the reintroduced EVO Scorpion Inferno powered Airsoft Rifle. Bob finishes up with a new X9 Classic which is a Beretta M9 in 4.5mm Steel BB.

You may have thought the Dan Wesson 715 was already pretty much perfect as is so what could ASG to make it even better? How about different barrel lengths. ASG has introduce the Dan Wesson 715 in both a new 2.5 inch and 4 inch version. Both lengths will be hitting stores shortly and will come in .177 caliber pellet and 4.5mm steel BB options. 6mm Airsoft will be out later on. The 4 inch version also includes an integrated accessory rail machined into the outer barrel for those of you wanted to add items like lasers and tactical lights to your Dan Wesson 715.

Last year at SHOT Show ASG introduced the EVO CZ Scorpion 3 A1 Inferno powered Airsoft Rifle but is again reintroducing it this year since they decided to take their time and get it perfect before releasing it in stores this March. The EVO CZ Scorpion 3 A1 is Inferno powered using an HPA system with a custom chip set that allows for a three round burst option an empty magazine detection.

ASG has sourced out not just any 4.5mm Steel BB shooting M9, they are actually getting their new ASG X9 Classic built by KJWorks. KJWorks is known for their Airsoft guns and I have reviewed several of them to date. If you have been looking for a KJWorks M9 but would prefer it to be in 4.5mm Steel BB then the new X9 Classic 4.5mm Steel BB KJWorks M9 exclusive to ASG is where you can get one!

Ammunition Type: 6mm Plastic BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 16 round full size drop out magazine.

FPS: 360 (.12 gram BB's).

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex HK USP Clear CO2 Airsoft Gun is pretty light for a Double Action Only trigger and it will allow for some pretty quick rapid fire action shooting. The hammer is basically for show as the hammer is actually situated internally.

Accuracy: So far I have not had a chance to test the Umarex HK USP Clear CO2 Airsoft Gun out but I expect it to get around 300 fps using .20 gram plastic Airsoft BB's and with the internal hop-up it should also be fairly accurate. We will have to find out later on when I get outside and perform my Field Test Shooting Video Review.

Build Quality: My first impressions of a clear plastic gun are that it is going to be cheaply made but this is not the case with the Umarex HK USP Clear CO2 Airsoft Gun. For the most part it is exactly like the all black Steel BB version I already reviewed other than the clear plastic shell. Everything else about the Umarex HK USP Clear CO2 Airsoft Gun is the same and there is a lot internal metal parts including a metal barrel and breach and a full internal metal chassis. I would have like to have seen a metal trigger, hammer, safety and slide catch release.

Realism: The Umarex HK USP Clear CO2 Airsoft Gun is a fully licensed replica of the real H&K USP automatic pistol. Other than it being clear and having a red tip is an extremely close looking and accurate replica of the real steel version. It does not operate the same since it is non blowback and does not have a moving slide but visually it is a very good copy.

Pros:

• Relatively low cost gun, even less than the Steel BB version that is the same other than the clear plastic portions.

• Nice full size drop out magazine that holds the CO2 and Airsoft BB’s.

• Lots of internal metal parts gives decent weight to the gun even though much of the shell is plastic.

• Rail for accessories.

• CO2 screw is well hidden in magazine.

• H&K licensing via Umarex.

• Red dot sights are easy to see on most targets.

• Should have justthe right amount of power for indoor CQB style Airsoft games.

• Makes a good starter pistol for someone getting into the hobby that may not want a gun that looks too realistic. 

Cons:

• Being a clear gun obviously takes away from the realism but that is the point of this gun so as not be confused with a real gun..

• Would have been nice if the magazine was metal like earlier versions of the HK USP.

• Also would have been nice to see more metal parts like the hammer, magazine release, safety, and slide catch release.

Comments:

As I mentioned in my video of the Umarex P99 Clear Plastic Spring Airsoft Pistol, I can be a bit of an Airgun snob and I tend to stay away from the clear Airsoft guns since I like mostly metal guns with blowback operation. That said there is a place for these clear Airsoft pistols. The Umarex HK USP Clear CO2 Airsoft Gun other than being clear looks like a gun and shoots like a gun but will not be confused as being a real gun which can offer some more safety and less stress to all parties involved.

Trigger Pull: The single action only trigger pull on the Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gun is a bit heavier than I expected since generally speaking single action triggers simply just need to release the hammer or striker. There is a little bit of take-up initially but then the release is fairly crisp, just a tad firm but since this is not an action shooter and a full rack of the slide is required to pre charge the internal spring, having a heavier trigger pull is not a big deal and did not seem to effect my accuracy in any way.

Accuracy: I didn't get a lot of shooting time with the Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gun but I can say it seemed to be shoot fairly accurately. I tested it out shooting on a paper target from 20 feet back using a non rested standing position. The Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gun did shoot a bit high and to the left but my 10 shot grouping was within 1.75 inches with the exception of one stray that shot a little more to the right. I was using .20 gram BB's but they did seem to get to the target pretty quickly and penetrate the paper fairly well. I would say they were traveling well over 200 fps.

Build Quality: The Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gun is about a $25 gun so you can't really expect too much in terms of quality materials but that said, the gun does feel solid and well put together. I had no issues shooing it and for the price you should get plenty of good use out of it.

Realism: The Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gun is realistic in terms of its shape, operation and even the Walther P99 licensing and trade marks. But as is expected being a clear plastic gun it falls short in terms of feeling and looking the part of a real gun. But that's kind of the point here, this gun is supposed to clearly look like and Airsoft gun and not a real gun including the orange red tip.

• Super low cost and even come with an extra mag and some starter BB’s.

• Full size drop out mags are nice.

• All the parts feel pretty tight, does not feel hokey, even has some metal parts where they are needed.

• Has a rail for accessories.

• Walther licensing and Trademarks.

• Slide stays back when out of BB’s.

• Has internal Hop-up.

• Has a floating barrel like the real steel version would.

• Makes a good starter pistol for someone getting into the hobby that may not want a gun that looks too realistic.

Cons:

• Is kind of on the light side at about half a pound.

• The single action trigger is a bit heavy but works fine, you're not going to be shooting rapped fire with this one anyway.

• Being a clear gun obviously takes away from the realism but that is the point of this gun so as not be confused with a real gun.

• Shoots a bit high and to the left.

Comments:

Right from the get go I was not expecting much from the Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gunbeing a bit of an Airgun snob and personally tending to stay away from the like of these clear plastic non-blowback super low cost Airsoft pistols. But after playing around with it for a bit I could really see how a first time Airsoft buyer could really enjoy the Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gun. It shoots just fine and costs next to nothing to buy and shoot. And I know there are many younger folks that watch my video reviews and perhaps their parents may be sitting on the fence about allowing them to buy an Airsoft gun out of fear that so many of them look so real. The Umarex P99 Compact Clear Spring Airsoft Gun clearly looks like an Airsoft gun which makes it pretty hard to get in trouble with yet you can still enjoy the Airsoft shooting experience without freaking your parents out!

It's been a great year for Replica Airguns and I wanted to share with everyone some of my favorites that I reviewed this year. In this Vimeo Video I show some of my top Replica Airgun picks for 2016 and talk a little bit about each one and what I like about it.

One of the most common types of question I get on my Replica Airguns YouTube channel has to be something like… Why is my Airgun not working? Most of the time the amount of info about the problem is limited to something like… “It was working yesterday but now it’s not working anymore” or something like “when I pull the trigger nothing happens”. My personal favorite is… “I took my gun apart and now it doesn’t work!”

I just made a similar video for Blank Guns and as I said in that video, trying to trouble shoot a mechanical or technical problem over the internet is very difficult, this goes for cars, guns, computers or what have you…

In this Why is My CO2 Airgun Not Working video I will however cover some of the more common and obvious problems I have seen relating to why a CO2 Airgun may not be working properly. I really don’t get a lot of questions about Spring Piston or Pump Airguns so I will be focusing on CO2 Airguns in this video. There will be a lot of crossover with CO2 Airsoft guns so this video may be helpful for some of you Airsofters out there

First let’s get the super obvious stuff out of the way! 

• Did you put a new CO2 cartridge in it and is it pierced all the way?

• Did you load BB’s or Pellets into the Airguns magazine and is the magazine in the gun correctly?

• Is the safety off?

• If the gun is a blowback semi auto single action Airgun then did you pull the slide back prior to the first shot?

CO2 Related Problems:

Not all CO2 cartridges are created equal, they often have slightly different shaped nubs on them and some brands will work better than others in different Airguns. If the shape of the CO2 nub does not fit properly into the valve area then it may not pierce or it could pierce but then not allow you to tighten it all the way losing all the CO2 in the process. If the CO2 is coming form the airguns handle to CO2 Valve area then this is an indication that your problem is related to the area where the CO2 enters the airgun.

There is a seal where the CO2 cartridge buts up to the valve, this seal can be damaged or even deformed from usage or even leaving your CO2 in the gun for too long. The outside CO2 Valve seal can also take the shape of a specific CO2 nub so when you use a different brand CO2 the seal may not properly make concat with the new CO2 type you are using, again causing leaking or even the total loss of all your CO2. CO2 Valve Related Problems:

Again, make sure that Outside CO2 Valve Seal is in good condition and any leaking is not being caused by this problem, if you have checked the Out Side Seal and everything is OK with it then perhaps there is a problem with the CO2 valve?

One indication that your CO2 Valve might be the culprit is the total loss of all your CO2 when you try to insert and tighten a new CO2 Cartridge. Usually all the CO2 will exit the barrel, not the handle or valve area. What may be happening is the valve is stuck open or the internal seal is broken or deformed. If this is the case you will have to remove the valve and have a look inside, this is a lot easier on CO2 airguns that have the CO2 valve in the magazine, if the CO2 valve is in the actual Airguns then a lot more disassembly may be required and I would recommend an Airgun technician take care of this for you.

If the gavel is in the magazine then you will have to unscrew it, you may require a special tool for this? Once the valve is out of the magazine  take a look inside and examine the internal seal, also look for any bits of metal shavings as they can disrupt the action of the valve causing leaking. Give the inside of the valve a good clean and then lubricate it with some silence spray. hopefully that fixes your problem!

BB’s getting Stuck in the Blowback Gas Tube:

I have actually made a dedicated video for this problem so I will put a link to it in the description of this video. The main reason people may have this problem is because we all like to rack that slide on our full blowback Airguns, but if you have a fully loaded magazine then each time you reach that slide without shooting the gun, you are inadvertently trying to load another BB into the breach area, the breach is only designed to hold one BB at a time so after a few racks of the slide the newly loaded have no place to go but into the Gas Tube where they can get stuck and cause having to the operation of your Full Blowback CO2 Airgun.

BB’s Rolling Out of the Barrel of Your CO2 Airgun:

This is not actually a fault of the gun but happens because of the way the gun is designed. This situation can happen with certain CO2 Airguns when the gun user pulls the trigger really slowly while the gun is point slightly in a downward position. What is actually happening is the first part of the trigger is made to draw a BB from the magazine into the breach of the gun. If the barrel of the gun does not have a rubber hop-up stopper in it then the BB is free to roll down the barrel and out of the gun. How do you fix this problem? Be more committed to your trigger pull and or shoot at a target that is not so low. Perhaps place your targets slightly higher than the gun so the barrel is not pointing down, especially if you like to take your time with the trigger :)

A Little Maintenance Can Go a Long Way!

Sometimes a good cleans is all you need to do to get things working as they should, again I have already made video Tutorial Showing “How to Clean Airguns and Blank Guns”.

What about stuff like My Airgun is jammed or my trigger is stuck or some random part fell out of my gun?

There is only so much I can cover in this video, most other problems are going to get a bit more complicated to fix and I suggest if your Airgun is not working and the suggestions I have made in this video do not solve your problem, then consider taking your gun into a gun tech.

Power Sources Covered in this review: CO2 - Green Gas / Propane - Spring - AEG / AEP (Automatic Electric Gun - Airsoft Electric Pistol)

Pro’s:

• CO2 Airsoft Guns allow for fast repeat shooting, great for action shooters, generally CO2 Airsoft Guns will have a little more power then Green Gas Airsoft Guns. There is no need to pump or cock your CO2 powered Airsoft gun in-between shots and a CO2 power source can allow for a very realistic action of the gun you are shooting. 

• Green Gas (Propane) Airsoft Guns operate much the same as CO2 Airsoft guns so they all make for great action shooters and the Green Gas powers the mechanical operation allowing for very realistic operation. Green Gas (Propane) Airsoft Guns can cost a little bit less to operate that a CO2 Airsoft Gun especially if you plan to use Propane as it can be cheaper to buy than the smaller 12 gram CO2 Cartridges.

• Spring Airsoft Guns are generally fairly basic and low cost so they are the usually the most affordable Airsoft guns to buy. There is no need to buy CO2 or Green Gas or even a Battery and Charger Setup so the cost to shoot Spring Airsoft Guns is only going to be subject to the Airsoft BB’s you plan on buying.

• AEG (Automatic Electric Guns) have the most consistent power as they use a spring internally that the electric motor draws back before each shot, the internal spring will essentially apply the same force to the Airsoft BB’s with each shot. AEG (Automatic Electric Guns) are a great option when you are wanting a Full Auto Airsoft gun since there is no cool down effect and as long as your batteries are charged and you have Airsoft BB’s in your magazine, the gun will simply keep shooting. AEG (Automatic Electric Guns) allow for the highest capacity magazines and often hold as many as 500 Airsoft BB’s in a single magazine. So if you’re looking for raw firepower an AEG or AEP Airsoft Gun is your best option. Once you have purchased your AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) and a battery and charger setup, they are fairly inexpensive to operate since no CO2 or Green Gas is required.

Con’s:

• CO2 Airsoft Guns require the additional cost to buy the CO2 cartridges as they will not function without it. CO2 Airsoft Guns have a limited power output and lose power as you shoot and use up the CO2. CO2 Airsoft Guns are effected by hot and cold temperatures and will have less power in colder temperatures and may not even work in super cold environments. CO2 Airsoft Guns will have a more conservative ammunition capacity since too high of a capacity magazine would freeze up the magazine and even the gun.  

• Again since Green Gas (Propane) Airsoft Guns work much like CO2 Airsoft Guns, they are effected by cool down and lose power when shoot quickly or as the Green Gas or Propane runs low. Green Gas does not expand as much as CO2 so it will not be as powerful and even less effective in colder temperatures. Green Gas Airsoft Guns will have a more conservative ammunition capacity since too high of a capacity magazine would freeze up.

• Spring Airsoft Guns are not the best action shooters since you need to manually operate the slide to pullback the spring prior to each shot, this does work well with Pump, Lever and Bolt Action Airsoft guns but is not the best option for pistols since most real steel pistols operate in semi auto mode.

• If you plan to use your AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) in a battle then it will require a multi battery setup which does cost a bit more upfront. AEG (Automatic Electric Guns) are know to not operate as realistically as a CO2 or Green Gas Airsoft gun since CO2 and Green Gas Guns do allow for the same realistic mechanical operation which can give very believable blowback operation, this is hard to replica with an AEG Airsoft Gun.

Here is my Field Test Shooting Video Review for the ASG CZ 75 P-07 Duty CO2 Airsoft Pistol. Make sure to checkout my previous Table Top Review for more detailed info about the ASG CZ 75 P-07 Duty Airsoft version.

My 5 shot Chronograph test resulted in a much lower than expected average velocity of around 265 fps, the ASG CZ 75 P-07 Duty CO2 Airsoft Pistol did start off in the mid350 range but then suddenly drop into the mid 200 fps range and according to ASG's rating, we should of been getting closer to 400 fps so something may have been up with this gun? My 10 shot accuracy test from 30 feet out using a semi rested position came in at around 4 inches. I am happy to say that my shots did seem to get to the target a bit faster than I was expecting with such a low fps chronograph testing. In terms of shot placement the ASG CZ 75 P-07 Duty CO2 Airsoft Pistol shot a bit high and to the left so you may have to adjust your aim point since there is no hop-up or windage adjustments on this pistol.

I was expecting a lot more power from the ASG CZ 75 P-07 Duty CO2 Airsoft Pistol since the 4.5mm Steel BB version of this same gun even with blowback operation still got an average of closer to 350 fps? I do like the lighter single action trigger the blowback version offers but the double action trigger of the non-blowback version is pretty good, not too heavy and fairly smooth. You can also expect to get at least 100 shots or more from a single 12 gram CO2 which makes this an relatively inexpensive gun overall.

Here is my Field Test Shooting Video Review for the ASG CZ 75D Compact CO2 Airsoft Pistol. Make sure to checkout my previous Table Top Review for more detailed info about the ASG CZ 75D Compact Airsoft version.

My 5 shot Chronograph test resulted in an average velocity of just over 400fps while my 10 shot accuracy test from 30 feet out using a semi rested position came in at around 2 inches for most of the shots with a few hitting a bit higher. I did have one misfeed which resulted in a double shot for the next trigger pull, those shots obviously did not hit the target as well as expected. For some reason I got a double shot when I tested the 4.5mm Steel BB version so perhaps this is something inherent to this air pistol? In terms of shot placement the ASG CZ 75D Compact CO2 Airsoft Pistol shot fairly well centered left to right but on the high side near the top of the target. You should be able to adjust the internal hop-up to lower the shots a bit if need be.

The ASG CZ 75D Compact CO2 Airsoft Pistol is about what I expected in terms of performance since I have already shot the 4.5mm Steel BB version but with the blowback option. I do like the lighter single action trigger the blowback version offers but the double action trigger of the non-blowback version is pretty good, not too heavy and fairly smooth. In this Field Test Shooting Reviews I test out the ASG Ruger MK II CO2 6mm Airsoft Pistol and put five rounds through my Chronograph to find out what the average fps is using .20 gram BB's and a brand new 12 gram CO2 cartridge. ASG claims 417 fps, I was expecting to get pretty close to that but did average a little bit lower at right around 399 but it was only about 7 degrees Celsius or 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Kind of a cold one!

I also shoot the ASG Ruger MK 2 CO2 6mm Airsoft Pistol from the 30 foot range since I hadn't had a chance to shoot it yet. While shooting from a semi rested position at 30 feet back, I was able to get a 5 inch 10 shot group but did notice that the bulk of the shoots seemed to all hit within a 2 inch group with two outliers that shot a bit low and to the right. The other 8 shots all hot really close to dead center on the target. All the ASG Ruger MK pistols have both adjustable hop-up and a rear sight that is adjustable for windage so you should be able to dial this gun in for your shooting style. The trigger pull on the ASG Ruger MK II CO2 6mm Airsoft Pistol is double action only and kind of on the long side but it is pretty smooth and has a nice satisfying metallic click to it when released, I found it pretty easy to shoot but it does take some practice time to get the feel for it.

If you are a Ruger MK series 22LR shooter than you may just want to get your hands on one of these and have the freedom of being able to shoot it just about anywhere for even cheaper than using 22LR ammo!

This is not to say that a “Real Gun” is not as good as an Airgun or better in other ways, in this video I’m just pointing out how an Airgun in some cases can actually be better suited than a Real Gun.

Availability: What I mean by this, is that in many countries Real Guns can be very hard to acquire and often require safety course and applications before one can purchase a Real Gun. I have no problem with this but it is a reality that must be considered. Having an Airgun versus not having a gun at all makes it a better option for people that live in countries that have strict gun laws. Here in Canada we are allowed Real Guns, even pistols but we do have restriction on our pistols and so I can only get certain guns in an Airgun version. As a collector this is better than not having the gun at all.

Price to Buy: Generally speaking you can pickup an enter level Airgun for much less money than a real gun.

Cost to Shoot: Real gun ammo prices have been steadily increasing to the point that a day out shooting can cost several hundred dollars just on the ammunition alone.

Comparison of Price:

• 50 rounds of 9mm ammo will cost around $18.00

• 6000 rounds of 4.5mm Steel BB will cost about $18.00

• CO2 is a bit less than $1 per 12 gram Cylinder which can yield up to 100 shots each.

• To shoot 100 rounds of 9mm will cost close to $40 versus 100 shots of 4.5mm steel BB at around $1.

• For this reason alone an Airgun can make a lot of sense even for Real Gun owners looking to get more cost effective practice time.

Access to Shooting Locations: Depending on where you live you will have to consider your local laws and where you are allowed to shoot both types of guns but typically you can shoot an Airgun safely just about anywhere as long as you implement some backstop safety precautions. Here in Canada we can only shoot a pistol at designated gun ranges, where as Airguns have a lot more allowances to shot them as long as you are not braking any city bylaws.

Training Guns: Even if you plan to eventually step up to a Real Gun at some point, an airgun is a great option to first learn proper gun handling skills since if you where to make a mistake, the consequences are much less severe. Airguns are also a lot less intimidating than a real gun since they are much quieter and have less recoil, you don’t even need to wear ear protection with most Airguns which means an instructor can communicate to his pupil on the range a lot easier.

Prop Guns: Since Replica Airguns look so much like real guns these day, they can often be used as a safer substitute for use in Movie, TV or other Photo and Video productions. Using a Real Gun on set generally requires a certified “Gun Wrangler” be on hand as Real Guns must be transported, stored and handled using very strict regulations. Airguns generally do not need to follow the same rigid regulations that Real Guns are bound to.

Tactical Training with Live Targets: Obviously shooting a real gun at a live target would not fair well for anyone involved, so that is completely out of the question. Airsoft Airguns are however perfect for Tactical Training and other weapons based simulations. All that is required for safety when using Airsoft guns is the use of eye protection and generally some heavy clothing.

I am sure there are some more areas in which Airguns may have the advantage over a Real Gun but these are the main ones that I could think of.

I get asked on a daily bases form many of my Vimeo Viewers about how and if there is a way to get rid of the White lettering on Airguns, Typically people are wanting to remove the intrusive Warning instructions from Airguns like the Cybergun Tanfoglio Witness 1911, the Cybergun/Swiss Arms GSG 92/P92 and many other CO2 Replica Airguns that have lettering or branding that you may want to get rid of.

In this Instructional Tutorial Video I show you how can at least tone down the white lettering and even completely remove it on some Airguns without damaging the Airguns finish underneath the white lettering. You will have to use some patience and perhaps repeat this method a few times but the end result is worth the effort.

The magical product I use to remove the white lettering on many popular Airguns is a product from Birchwood Casey called the Presto Gun Blue Pen. This product is actually designed to touch up real steel gun in areas where the blueing has worn off, lucky for us the Birchwood Casey Presto Gun Blue Pen also works well to remove the ugly white lettering from Airguns.
