We made it the third and final Field Test Shooting Video for the Alias Gem Mini CO2 Pistol with sections one and two testing the 4.5mm Steel BB, 6mm Airsoft and .50 Caliber Rubber Ball and Barrels. Today I test out the Rocket Barrel that shoots Carbon Shaft Air-Rockets (Bolts), to find out what the velocity is in fps along with accuracy at 30 feet away shooting at a paper target. Make sure to watch Video One and Video Two of this Field Test Shooting Series and also my Table Top Video for the Alias Gem Mini CO2 Pistol.
Unfortunately things did not go perfect in this Field Test, I did have some problems with the valve on the Alias Gem Mini CO2 Pistol, the CO2 valve seems to not be closing quick enough resulting in a bunch of CO2 coming out well after the ammunition has left the barrel. I am not sure how this effected velocity but it did waist a lot of CO2 requiring me to reload a new CO2 part way through the video. I did get two good shots as far as I could tell that hit 185 fps and 177 fps averaging out to 181 fps. I couldn't find any Rocket Bolt information on the weight of the arrows so it is hard to say what kind of energy that would produce, but to be honest, with the accuracy results I got, I dolt think it really matters how powerful the Alias Gem Mini CO2 Pistol is, if it does not really hit where you are aiming at.
With that said my accuracy test was pretty bad. I only got one of the 4 bolts on the actual target and it was hard to even tell where the other ones where hitting as they bounced off of whatever they hit and I could not see them since there was a rather large CO2 cloud with each shot (because of the wasted CO2 from the faulty valve). I am hoping this result is a one off and that my Alias Gem Mini CO2 Pistol was defective, but I only perform the tests to the best of my ability and do not have any control of the product I am testing.
After testing all three barrels (4.5mm Steel BB & 6mm Airsoft, .50 Caliber Paintball, Rocket), I would suggest for the most part, just use the included 4.5mm Steel BB and 6mm Airsoft Barrels as they seem to be the best performers. Rubber or Paintball works OK but not as accurate and for the Rocket Barrels… they seemed to be the least accurate and if you miss your target and hit anything remotely hard, the arrow tips will get bent and destroyed. So unless you have a bucket of cash and don’t mind considering all your arrows as disposable, then just stick with ammo that is actually disposable. I really wish the Alias Gem Mini CO2 Pistol performed better for me in this Field Test Shooting Video as it is really a very well built and high quality Airgun. Maybe I got a lemon? I don’t know but these are the results I got and how I feel about them.
